Re: I don't know where exactly to put this.
"Ivory" sounds pretty gender neutral to me, not to mention it's a beautiful name! I think you should keep it especially if you're used to it and it suits the crab

Re: Desert Crabby Mixes N More Review
I think some ingredients are not listed because they can be copied by other food competitors. The Crab Patch Mineral Blend does not specify and we all know how great it is. That's a good point! I've heard of how great the Mineral Blend is from there, might have to get some the next time I need crab ...

Here is a dropbox link to some photos of the shells & Crb. Currently there are only two shells in the tank. I used to have more, but they were...

Re: Hi, and help?
As someone else has said, you don't usually see your crabs eat unless you stay up pretty late. I know how it feels though -- I only have two hermit crabs and I rarely see them eat. I remember when I first got them I was freaking out and giving them all sorts of foods because I didn't think they were...

Desert Crabby Mixes N More Review
Hi everyone! I'm the owner of two beautiful PPs known as Old Bay (terrible, I know) and Kelp. I've had them for two/three years now, and as far as I know they are healthy and happy. Kelp is a large crab, while Old Bay is a medium/large. Anyway, back to the review. For all those years I've had them ...

Re: How to feed mixes?
Victory! I gave them a dessert banana coconut mix and they loved it. I'm not sure why they hated the other mixes so much. Maybe I'll just give them to another hemit crab loving friend and hope they have better luck!

Re: How to feed mixes?
They eat very small amounts - unless you have a lot of crabs who are demolishing the food dish every night, it can be hard to tell how much they're eating. Try not to worry! The food being pushed around is a good sign. :) Hmm... Well, I've left it for about a 2 days now, and it hasn't been moved an...

Re: How to feed mixes?
Hmm, so I've given some different mixes but I'm still not sure if they're actually eating it. I haven't seen any of them eat, and the food always seems pushed around instead of eaten. I really hope they're eating, I'm starting to get worried

Re: How to feed mixes?
I don't often have powdered mixes, but with any food, I just give them small amounts of many different things every time I refresh the food dish. The amount will depend on how many crabs you have. Just start small and see how they do. If the dish is cleared pretty quickly, add a bit more next time....

I know <3 How much of the powdered mix do you usually give them? I'm not really sure how much to give >.<Crabinski wrote:It's so cute to watch them pick up dry mixes pinch by pinch -- it's like a little conveyor belt: pinch to mouth, pinch to mouth, pinch to mouth, for minutes on end!

How to feed mixes?
So might be kind of a dumb question, but I received 20 mixes today and I'm not sure if you just put them in straight or what? Will the crabs be able to pick up the dry powder? Thanks!

Re: Trouble maintaining heat?
I'm not sure if they're sold in pet stores, this is the site where it's recommended to buy Ultratherms - http://www.reptilebasics.com/ultratherm-heat-pads That's a safe temperature, just not ideal. Your crabs should be okay at that temperature, but a lot of people say that having the temp around 80...

Re: Trouble maintaining heat?
A lot of people suggest that if you have a very cold house/room or have trouble keeping your tank warm, that you get the largest heating pad that will fit on the back of your tank, above the substrate. :) Ultratherms come in quite a few sizes & a lot of people really like them. I'm pretty new to he...

Re: Trouble maintaining heat?
Do you have the UTH's mounted on the back (or sides)? How big are they? Do you have them insulated? I've found that insulating really helps a LOT with boosting the temperature up. One is on the back, one is on the side. Should I put them both on the back? They're pretty big, at least the side one i...
