Re: Adoption success stories.
We adopted yet another crab through the HCA. He is doing very well, and has no health issues. Watching him interact with other crabs is interesting, since he has been by himself for a few years. But, overall, everything went well and I look forward to the next adoption!

Re: Is this shell rot?
Good to know! I'm really, REALLY glad that it's just an old injury. Thanks for the quick response.

Re: Adoption success stories.
Another successful adoption through the HCA! Picked up a few new crabs last night to add to the crew. They came from a local crabber (and HCA member) who was downsizing their tank. Luckily, they came from a tank with a great set up, so they seem happy and look healthy.

Injury or shell rot?
Newly adopted crab has a damaged looking BP. It has a dent in it, and some discoloration. What is this and what should I do, if anything?

Re: New behavior
Lol! Too funny!
From reading the info post in the breeding forum, it seemed like it was a end of summer type of thing. But if it is mating behavior, that makes me happy because it shows that they are happy and comfortable. At least I assume that's what it means.

Re: food = behavior
Well, I feel like they remember the smell of certain foods. When I put a favorite in the tank (like popcorn), everyones' antenna go crazy and the dominant ones scramble over and get to it first. Or, if I put something in that no one seems to care about (like carrots), they all just ignore it.

New behavior
So, I have this new behavior that I observed this morning. I thought that maybe it was aggression, but this particular crab (Large male) has never been aggressive. He isn't shy, but definitely passive. He was very energetic, running circles around the perimeter of the tank as soon as the sun set. He...

http://naplesseashellcompany.com/ is a great place to look. Their opening sizes are pretty accurate (in my experience) and they also sell in packs.

whoa! I didn't know you could even have more than one town. Is it something that you unlock? When I made a new character, it just made me a citizen of my current town.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Leaf
I still play. It's actually my sons game but I have a spot on it (he's the mayor though). :) Cool! It's a neat little game, but sometimes my attention span just isn't there. The "real time" aspect makes everything soooo slow. I used to play animal crossing: wild world (ds lite) I loved that game! N...

Animal Crossing: New Leaf
Does anyone still play this game? I just started playing and was pretty excited when I caught a hermit crab. I tried to upload the pic but the forum doesn't gel well with my 3DS.

Re: What is a moss pit?
I use forest moss, it's in the reptile section and comes in little bricks. You tear pieces off and soak them in water. Squeeze the excess water out and find a small container to use as a "pit" for the moss. Spray it to re-moisten as needed. It helps keep humidity up in the tank, and the crabs can ea...

We've just successfully completed our second adoption through the HCA
Ocean came to us freshly molted, from a loving home where he happily resided for about 8 years. Can't wait to introduce him to his new crab family!

California Adopters
SACRAMENTO I live in Sacramento and am willing to travel short distances to pick up any crabs that need a home. I currently own a 90g tank, and two 40g tanks, having a total of 26 crabs. I also have two 10g tanks that I use for isolation or integration. I have both PP's and E's. I have been crabbin...
