Hi! I keep meaning to check in, I’ve just been very busy and I haven’t gotten to it.
The crabs are still available! I’ll be in town in November for Thanksgiving but I can still try to work something out for earlier pick up with my mom who’s caring for them!
I’ll send you a PM, @Deisori

Dayton Ohio (area) 2-4 Crabs
Hey all, it’s been a minute since I’ve been around here! I have been in Arkansas permanently for a while but my crabs are still in Ohio with my mom. I wanted to gauge the interest in people to take them off her hands. There are somewhere between 2 and 4 purple pinchers. There are only ever 2 up at o...

Re: 55g tank build (5 years in the making!)
Woo! It's finished! I'm in love with it! So green! The crabs seem to like it, they've been exploring everything since they moved in. Lots and lots of zip ties to make everything as stable as possible. My dudes are huge and knock anything over than is loose! There's a lot of plants and wood zip tied ...

Yeah, so they're still in their old tote that I built several years ago.avocadocrabbies wrote:Looks so good! I probably missed it in one of the earlier posts, but where are your crabs during this transition?

Re: 55g tank build (5 years in the making!)
It's been a while since I got much work done, it's been harder to get materials than I thought it would be. But I got out to the craft store today to get canvas. I bought the water dishes the other night and and finished the liners today. I hate cleaning water dishes, so I made the liner to make it ...

Re: 55g tank build (5 years in the making!)
Came up with a plan! I found a plastic tote lid that is almost exactly the right width. I cut it to the right length and I'll cut out a section of it to give access to the topper. AND if anyone is wondering, a 20g long tank lid is the same width as a 55g, so that's what I'll use for the other part o...

Re: 55g tank build (5 years in the making!)
It's been a couple days of slow progress, so here's an update from the last 3 days: -I sealed the cracks in the plastic with flex seal to strengthen the tank's structure (I only sealed parts on the outside that are not accessible to the crabs, I dont want them eating flex seal!) -The treehouse is co...

Re: 55g tank build (5 years in the making!)
I just finished sanding/cutting away the jagged edges of the top rim. I used an electric sander and it would have taken hours to get it to where I wanted it. I opted to use a box cutter and slowly cut away the large pieces. It probably wasn't worth it, but I'm happy with the results :) I also starte...

55g tank build (5 years in the making!)
I had no idea it'd been 5 years since the crabbies moved into the 32g tote. I wasn't planning on upgrading until I moved out. BUT, my ACFs got an upgrade and I felt like the crabbies were being left out. Somehow my parents were open to the idea of a massive tank being installed, and therefore, for t...

Re: Jelly legs?
Are you referring to the upper section of the leg? It looks normal to me. A freshly molted crab will have a pink tint. It doesn't look like that to me. It's pretty common for paler colored crabs to have that coloring toward their body. I wouldn't worry too much. They usually know when it's safe for ...
My clan
It's been ages since I've posted over here! I can't even remember if I posted any pics of the 3 adoptees I got this summer. I finally named them and can identify them (for now, it's all based on their shells atm, so we'll see how it goes lol) All 4 are huge! I miss having little teeny crabs! But the...

Re: Shell locked
Hermit crabs are generally very weird, and this could be his "normal" lol. I can't see an issue unless he stops moving and doesn't eat. Otherwise I agree with SG and if I were you I would focus on getting some more shells and a larger tank
