I bought a piece of glass from Home Depot that I put on top of my wire lid. When I need to adjust the humidity, I slide the glass over to cover more or less.

Re: Popsicle sticks and hot glue
I can confirm what Crabinski said. I recently hot glued some popsicle sticks to my plastic water dishes. I wanted to be able to stake the dishes into the substrate because my crabs keep dumping the water out! It worked great for a little while, but soon the glue came off for some of them and the oth...

@emceedi Really, Queen?! Lol sorry I had to! Bianca Del Rio for life! How large are your shells from mygann? I love getting shells from them; I need some more large ones. Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk Haha! Bianca has set the bar pretty high for all future queens, but I think this is a conver...

Re: Naples and MyGann
I got giant shells from them too! It was a mistake, but it was my fault. I didn't measure what I needed and just guessed.

They're beautiful and I'm hoping someone grows into them.

The Crab with the Metal Eye
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/310/19323998168_dfce28dd70_c.jpg One of my large crabs has developed a “metal eye.” His one eye is all silvery and opaque. I’m assuming that it will be fixed after his next molt, but I’m just wondering if anyone has ever seen this before. I’ll let everyone know what h...

Re: Can I mark the shells?
I'm not sure about Sharpie. I know they say they're non-toxic, but crabs are more sensitive to chemicals than we are. I would suggest trying to etch markings onto empty shells with a little metal file or something. I know it's a little too late for the shells that already have a crab moved into them...

Re: My new crabbies
Sounds like you're doing everything right! Sometimes, new crabs will go underground for a long time to de-stress, but won't actually molt. Missing a leg or parts of a leg is normal. It'll grow back after their next molt!

Re: Tiny hermit crab disappeared
My littlest crab hides too. After I got him, he went down and molted for two months. Now he only comes above ground at night, and I've only actually seen him a couple times.

Re: should I be worry
Larger crabs take longer to molt, but they do it less frequently. I would just wait a little longer.

I don't know how you can tell them all apart. I have four and none of them have names for that reason. I know them by their shells, but they could be swapping every day for all I know!

Re: The Hermit Crab Garden ~ New Flowers are Ready!
I was looking at the calcium sources that you offer, and I was wondering if there was a difference between oyster shell and coral crushed and powdered, as far as their uses. Do different sized crabs prefer one over the other?

Re: dumbest things people have said about your crabs/other p
My dad asked me, "Why do you want hermit crabs? What do you do with them?" This is coming from a man that spends hours on the weekends cleaning his fish tank.
