Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing
Haven't been active in a while but my guys are doing well. I have had for a few years but have never tried feeding any live food before. Picked up some meal worms today and placed my big guy in the dish with them. Should have seen him grabbing at them. Finally got one and bee lined it for a hide. Gr...

Got back from a family trip to Cuba last week and was able to get a few pics with a local [emoji2] . Found him wandering the paths on the resort. Relocated him to a less travelled spot near the beach so he wouldnt get stepped on. He was the only hermit crab i saw there, mind you if we had gone up th...

Re: Refusal to get back in shell
Heres a quote from one of Calalilly's post: " It's very important to get him back in a shell. You can place some extras near him to see if he'll try one on. If not, try the glass cup method. This is where you place a clean, appropriately sized shell in the bottom of a glass, gently rinse the crab in...

Re: Refusal to get back in shell
2 inches is not deep enough for the substrate. Sounds like he might be trying to molt but doesnt have enough substrate to dig down. When they molt other crabs can sometimes be attracted by the smell, hence you 2nd crab bothering him. You need to raise the temp and humidity some (heat rises so it wou...
Windows
I love when my guys make windows while there down, giving me a glimpse of their 'underworld'. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/04/04/a73c7c26780c247ecd3c8e4468e898d9.jpg I think the flash may have spooked him slightly, he turned around after taking the first pic. This window has been open for a ...

Re: Talk to me about your crabitat lids, please
Like wode I have no issues with aquarium lid, unfortunately the one im using did have the filter holes punched out. Used some black duct tape to close most of it off, leaving some space for airflow (but not enough for escape artists)

Re: Hello from Ontario! – New Crab Owner
Definitely sounds like a molt. Especially if they were unable to do so befote with the gravel and they prob want to regenerate those missing limbs. Im with Asheka id leave them be (I know its hard when you have a new pet and cant even see them). Just keep giving them fresh food and water... ps im al...
Re: New guy
Oh not worried, he has a good selection of other shells to choose from.
Heres another shot, new one is the one on the bottom. Hermie (adopted about a year ago from a friend) is chasing him around.

New guy
Found this guy at the local pet store. He was the last one and clearly in a shell way to big for him.
