Re: Mice

Those things are SO DANG CUTE!!

How have they acclimated to you, less nervous yet?

I just brought home a huge hermit tank, and two kittens will be coming home next week... my son (whom turns 9 soon) was asking for a hamster.. maybe he wants some mice instead... :D

Re: I've got baby scorpions! 8/24/2014 There's 11! w/Pic!

Just now reading this thread... and I got a cold chill down my back seeing the "family photo". Kudos to you -for sure. I don't know that I could ever keep those.. I can't even let the crabs "walk" on my hands. I just.. move them around when I have to otherwise I like to observe them being "au-natura...

Re: First time molting

I hope you still have the "pieces of him" that you found. That was his exo-skeleton. He needed to eat those in order to harden back up. I'm surprised that he's up and moving around at all. He probably needs to placed in ISO with his exo in a dark place. Offer him plenty of proteins, calcium and mayb...

Re: I think he might be stupid.

I try to not bother myself with their shell size. I giggle about their choices.. I assume they are only following their natural instincts.

I've noticed, like posted above, if I freshly wash them and put them opening side up they get checked out a lot quicker!

Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing

My crabs are rebels who never eat their vegetables. It doesn't seem to matter what I've put in there - aside from corn - they want nothing to do with it!

Tonight was bits of mandarin orange, some applesauce and raw salmon.

Have a DIY Lid idea? Post it here! (I need them!)

Looking for DIY lid ideas. Fancy or simple - upgrading to a larger tank soon and looking for something that will fit our needs.

Re: CrabbyJ's DIY Crabitat Project

I recommend using Pond shield.
It's an easy epoxy to use, it's non toxic, and safe for aquariums. Infact, you might want to use it instead of a liner on all the indoor of your design!

Re: dumbest things people have said about your crabs/other p

People don't understand. .. "What do they do"?

I normally respond that they are relaxing like watching a fish tank but far more entertaining.

I have a friend who has a pet muntjac deer. He's about the same size as my dog. .. and a real hoot.

I LOVE strange pets!

Re: Shipping Hermit Crabs

Being in south Florida means I basically can't get crabs mailed to me. The only time it would be halfway reasonable temperature wise is when it's about 75 outside, which isn't very oftenml. It stayed 80 almost all winter here. Now it's like a hot box in a mail truck, and even for one day that would ...

Re: What's on today's menu & recipe sharing

After reading these .... I feel highly inadequate. Mine got a grape, a blueberry and some tuna. Though mine are either molting or hiding for the most part at the moment - Somebody drug the blueberry off last night leaving a trail of purple across the sand.
