Re: Adoption success stories.
I found this former class pet on Boston Craigslist. I don't know how old the kids were who took care of him, but he lasted two years there and seems pretty outgoing and healthy. He is now retired from his teaching career. ;-) https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xta1/v/t1.0-9/11091288_1...

These pics are great. I love to see the different sizes hanging out together and being pals!
Also your crabitat set up is very impressive.

Re: How to keep the tank warm during a power outage
If it got that bad id probably use a plastic tote and put it in bed with me lol Okay, don't make fun of me, but... I've done this. My smallest girl was molting and in the ISO critter keeper, it was January, and I could not for the life of me get the temp in that critter keeper where it needed to be...

What about matching the theme to your hermies' country of origin? PPs?: Jamaican theme, mon. Think red, yellow, green, and black. Think banana palm and tropical paradise. Think Bob Marley. ;-) Es?: Make a mini Machu Picchu! Violas?: How about an ancient China theme, complete with terracotta warriors...

Re: Chia / Flax Sprout Carpet
So, I tried this, and I don't know if it's my black thumb or what, but they never sprouted. They just developed a gel-like coating and stuck together. They kind of ended up looking like a clutch of tadpole eggs. :-/

Re: Large hides?
You could use a terracotta pot or planter turned on its side. You'd still be able to see him, but a couple of my guys seem to feel comforted just by crawling in and facing the back, with their shells facing the opening. It's like wearing a shell on their shell!
