I agree with Calla, but did you happen to leave the lid open? They can escape quickly!!

Re: Naked crab - 2 days now and no shell
I'm guessing you are having to spray everyday to keep up the humidity? That is probably semi-flooding the substrate over time. Do you have a moss pit? A damp moss pit helps keep up humidity. The thing that finally stabilized my humidity however was adding an air stone to the fresh water pool. Consis...

Re: Zoo Med UTH. Anyone have one?
Yep, it's okay to use. Usually you need a pad that is rated for a bigger tank than what you've got. I would set it at the highest setting and monitor the temp. Just remember to put it on the back of the tank above the substrate.

Last night I decided to share my Coconut Cream Pie Lärabar (don't worry, ingredients are Dates, Unsweetened Coconut, Almonds, Cashews, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil) and they loooved it. They also got spinach, red pepper, boiled egg, and tomato, in addition to their dried food and calcium bowl.

Re: Molting crab attacked, out of shell
That is awesome news! If he is getting around, eating and drinking on his own, I would give him a dunk in some fresh water to wash off the molting smell, then put him in the main tank. I doubt the other crabs would pick on him unless he still smells like a yummy molting crab. Do you know if they are...

YYWW - I see now. I was picturing a futon frame instead of a daybed, lol. CrabbySquirrel - If you were asking me about the cinderblock stand, I didn't end up doing it, it was just something I considered. I would get the strongest wood you can afford though. My husband didn't want to do that stand be...

Re: Naked crab - 2 days now and no shell
At this point you probably need to reshell her yourself. Choose a shell that is slightly too big and as similar to the one she came out of as possible. Make sure it and her abdomen are clean of sand by rinsing in dechlorinated fresh water and leave a bit of water in the shell. Gently uncurl her abdo...

I cannot seem to picture that setup, YYWW.
I've been waiting for an appropriate place to say I hope you and your baby are good and one hasn't popped up yet! I know that's why you were absent for a bit. Glad you are back

Re: What do you put your tank on?
I bet it would weigh more like 350+. Including the water to keep the sub moist and the weight of the tank.
Edit: I would definitely not use that shelving unit you posted...

Re: What do you put your tank on?
I have my 55 gallon with ten inches of sub on a coffee table that is designed like this: http://www.elec-toolbox.com/tagservices/projects/refinish/RefinshedWoodwork/oldcoffeetablerefinishedwithleatherpillowtopfront.jpg It is solid wood and seems to be holding up well with no signs of stress, but tha...

Re: Let's make sure I've got this right.
If it never gets below 75 degrees or if it only dips below that a few times a year, I don't think you would need a heater. I would still make sure to get a temp/humidity guage for the tank however. Although that kit is better than most, I personally would not use anything in it other than the tank. ...

Re: Skitters in Peril!
If you have a Kritter Keeper or a large tupperware container with holes in the lid, you can create an iso within your crabitat. I think I would put small bottle caps of water and food on Q-tips stuck into the substrate directly in front of him and place him under a hide and try not to disturb him fo...

Re: Moistening substrate with ease?
Easiest way would probably be to mist the surface daily. Any idea why it's drying out so quickly?
