Re: Solid tank lid
Glass lids have a plastic slab for you to cut. You can easily drill holes for tubing in this spot. Just be mindful of where you drill, because the slab rests on the tank rim. Just mark the spot with the lid on, to avoid having to re-drill.

Well since everyone is getting upgraded you might as well reduce the stress by waiting til then to move him. Just keep future molts in mind. [emoji6]

Re: Sebastian wants out.
You do not need to ISO crabs that want to molt. They can molt fine on their own, and should be left to take care of themselves.

Re: 75g rebuild: false bottom, levels, cycled pools
Yea, for filters. I think u can use anything, but aquarium specific stuff is especially porous, which you need to colonize the good bacteria for your cycle.

Re: Molt Issues - I need advice fast!
Got rid of the black fluff and the bug right away, have had the tanks covered for both crabs when I noticed they were surface molting. Moss is hanging over the water, not actually in it. Hermiz was actually molting under the sand. and she started just after Morbo started his. Her being smaller, I t...

Agree!hermieluv1 wrote:The depth of the sub sounds way too low to me, which may be one reason they surface molted. Sub needs to be at least 6" and of sand castle consistency so that they can tunnel and make molting caves.

Molt Issues - I need advice fast!
Ok! Thanks for the answers. The pictures are also a great help! Substrate: baking sub is a good way to sterilize it. It is not necessary to frequently sterilize your sand. Beneficial bacteria lives through your substrate which helps break down waste and organic material, keeping the tank balanced an...

Re: 75g rebuild: false bottom, levels, cycled pools
Nice! I'll have to keep them in mind while I'm building :D If you don't mind, around how much did they cost? I don't imagine they make one specifically for 2.5G tanks though, right? They don't, and tiny filters are not too helpful with cycling anyway, so go straught for a 5gal or 10gal rated filter...

Re: Molt Issues - I need advice fast!
So it soundsto me like your tank is less than a 12 inch cube? That seems very small. Crowding might be leading your crabs to surface molt, as well as the excess water and possible flood in your tank. The sand in your fluffy stuff picture looks colored? Is there colored sand in your tank? This might ...

Re: Windows
Windows can be torture, too. I was waiting for one to come up from molting, and almost 1.5 months later he made a window 1 inch below surface. He stayed there for 2 weeks!!!!! He was the last to get moved into an upgrade, at the time, so i was anxious for him to come up. He would go up when I wasn't...
