Re: Organ Meat?
JJ, yeah those are some great points. I'll definitely have to research it a bit more.
Re: Safe?
It looks safe, however it might be an expensive way to get those fruits and veg for a crab and they might not like the fine powders all mixed up. I'd be interested to get an update!

Organ Meat?
Hello friends!
What do we know about organ meat? I see Liver on the safe list and I think I've heard of folks giving their crabs hearts and necks. What is our understanding on giving organ met (liver, hearts, etc.)? Safe? Unsafe? Beneficial? Neutral?

Re: temporary holding spot
If you are only redecorating, you might be able to work around them. But if you're using silicone or doing anything that might endanger them, you can move them to a holding tank. Depending on how long they are in that holding tank will determine the conditions you need to keep it at. I've always jus...

Re: First time owner nearing my 1 year anniversary of crab parenting!
YOU'RE SO COOL! I LOVE your tank build! Way to go to make it to the 1 year mark, it's huge! And thank you for doing your research and rescuing other crabs on top of yours, your crabbies seem very well taken care of! Thanks for all the pictures! They kind of look like Instagram story pictures, are th...

Re: Tank type
Hey, An aquarium is what most of us use. Your tank should be glass and able to completely seal off for heat and humidity -- so no mesh or holes. Aquarium tanks are also deep (necessary for deep substrate) and have thicker glass that can withstand the weight of the sand. Bonus, they're also usually t...

Re: Red Bell Pepper Seeds
I'm on the lookout now for pepper seeds on the internet. [emoji16] I don't eat peppers, and the crabs already have enough dehydrated peppers. Or maybe I can buy the peppers, pick out all the seeds, and ask my neighbors if they want the pepper parts lol. [emoji39] Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using ...

Re: mixed opinions on foods?
I'll have to check. I thought brewers yeast was. The nutritional yeast movement is newer than the lists. Who would really offer a giant bowl of honey though? It just doesn't make any sense because it's not how people feed honey. They drizzle it on other foods, or put in a popcap or small shell full...

Re: hermit crabs move their food around
Very normal! I think it's just them guarding their prize. I take it as a sign that they enjoyed their food a lot.

Re: mixed opinions on foods?
I don't like calling them healing foods, more like a food boost, but there are a few things that are nutrient loaded and easy for weakened crabs to eat. Honey and peanut butter are the ones we always talk about because people usually have them on hand, they are loaded with fast acting calories, the...
