Thanks for your replies!

I thought maybe he wasn't our far enough. He's a climber, so hopefully he'll give me another angle. ;-)

Will keep trying......

Male? Or female?

Is this little guy out of its shell far enough to see if it is male or female? I am thinking male because I do not see gonopores. But that may be due to it not being out far enough.

Thanks! :-)

Moved Hermies to Warmer Room

We moved the hermies to my daughter's (warmer) room after having issues with cooler temps in the room they were in, and it has been nothing but a good thing so far. Most nights, all three hermies make an appearance, and seem much happier. Yay!!! I feel like a good Hermie mommy! We are almost to the ...

Re: Basking Lamp Raising Temp, But Zapping Humidity :-(

Thanks for replying. :-) I have a mesh lid covered in Saran. I keep about 1/2" gap open for air on one end of the tank. Would a glass lid be better? Without the lamp, the humidity is fine. I have also thought of adding two small UTHs to the ends of the tank. But I know one day I want to upgrade. Is ...

Basking Lamp Raising Temp, But Zapping Humidity :-(

I have a 10gal, and 3 smallish PP's. The temp started dropping with cooler outdoor temps, so I added the basking lamp pointed at the outside of one end (already have a UTH on the back). Temp back up to mid-high 80s during the day (using a 50w) and high 70s at night when the lamp is off. But the lamp...

Re: Temp Range for PP's

Thanks! I put the 50w on all day, and so far it is staying around 86 in the hotter end. Def in the 70s on the cooler end. With the 75w off all night, it dropped down to 74-75 in there, which is about right.....It's around 66 out in that room, and there is a UTH on the back of the tank above the sub.

Temp Range for PP's

Hi. We have 3 PP's. We have had them since July. Temp/humidity was great with UTH til Oct. Then temp started dropping when the temp outside started dropping (low 70s). And crabbies stayed hidden, when they had previousLy came out early evening. Knew someone keeps coming up at tho night because water...

Re: Soon to be owner, with some questions.

Get some inexpensive artificial plants that you can attach to the walls. My crabs love climbing in them! :-)

Re: second dead crabs

I am so sorry to hear about your crabbies. :-( As for the UTH, you may have some luck reattaching it with foil duct tape if you do lose all the sticky stuff when you take it off the bottom. (Not the gray, sticky kind, but the one that actually looks like aluminum foil.) My UTH also showed and explai...

Oak & Maple Leaves: Fresh, Dried, or Both?

I have 3 PPs. I just read they like to munch on maple and oak leaves. We have a TON of trees in our yard, and we don't use pesticides. But do the hermies like fresh leaves? Dried leaves? Or both? If dried, do I need to wait until fall when they drop off the trees?

Thanks!! :-)
