I have one crab down for around 8 months now. Medium size crab. No smell. 4 others have Been down a long time also. Is it possible they've been eaten by others? I don't get it.

Were they new? They could be molting, which is why they've been down for so long. 81 is right in the magic zone where most people see the most activity. Mine are super active even up in to the 90's in the summer, so heat generally doesn't affect them adversely. Have you calibrated your hygrometer y...

Too warm?
is it possible that 81% and 81 degrees is too warm? Our crabs just spend almost all their time down deep. I haven't seen one crab in probably 3 months at least. Occasional pop ups but that's it.

So we had a good run but it looks like they want to molt again. Over the last month, All 4 have now gone back down. Bought a coco fiber climbing mat at petsmart and cut it up to make all kinds of climbing apparatus. Added second levels for moss and shell shop and they love it. Also bought some natural twine instead of hemp since it was thicker. Braided it up and have it hanging down from second levels. Not sure i...

Well, you guys were right. 3 of the 4 are up now. So only one is left and he's been down just as long so hopefully soon.

so it looks like it was a molt. my daughter says her claw grew back. didnt know that could happen.
