Etsy nets
DesignzByMeg on Etsy has free shipping on her store. A specific quantity is not needed. My hermit crabs love climbing on them! Just thought I would spread the word.

Re: shower caddy level
I would buy the Marineland glass canopy, only because the measurements for the 36" x 18" say 40 breeder and the Aqueon glass canopy doesn't. Just to be on the safe side. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: shower caddy level
I just looked at Doctors Foster and Smith's website and they have a Marineland glass canopy and they have one for a 40 breeder. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: shower caddy level
I bought my aqueon versa top glass canopy online at Doctors Fosters and Smith (DFS). Sand dollars are safe to put in the tank, they will even eat some of it too. It says on DFS website that 3 bricks of Eco Earth will fill up a 40 gal. tank, but I am not sure how many inches it would fill the tank. T...

Re: shower caddy level
My crabs like to climb the airline tubing, but they have never pinched a hole into it.
As far as a divider I don't use one as I have Eco Earth/sand mixed together....maybe a thin piece of plexiglass would work?

Re: Securing Glass Lids
Tape the plastic rim to the back of the tank, and then use the velcro like straps on either side on the glass. For a hinged glass lid you'd need two pairs of straps - one pair for each section - unless you had a strip light weighing one section down. The crabs can get major leverage with only a few...

Re: Water Bowl "Substrate"
What I have in my tank are betta cups (the cups that bettas come in from the petshop, they are also deep enough for my crabs to fully submerge themselves in and they have a plastic plant to easily climb out of) one cup is in the substrate with a layer of glass pebbles, then I put a second cup on top...

Re: Securing Glass Lids
I haven't done it yet, but after reading about it on dendroboard, I'm planning to use adhesive magnetic strips to secure the lid on the mourning gecko tank I'm setting up. That might work? What a good idea! But I was wondering, since I have bubbling pools in my tank the water sprays onto the lid wo...

Re: Securing Glass Lids
I thought about using that, but wasn't sure if it would be strong enough. Did you go all the way around the rim of the tank with the velcro or only where needed?wodesorel wrote:Velcro straps work, too.

Re: Securing Glass Lids
I couldn't open the link either but we may have the same item. The glass lid I bought from Drs Foster & Smith has a horizontal hinge at mid-point and the plastic strip at the back mentioned by @purpleperson. After the lid was snugly seated on the inner tank lip, I placed an aquarium strip light on ...

Securing Glass Lids
Hey everyone! I just bought a glass canopy for my tank but I want a better way of securing the glass lid to the tank. I was wondering how you guys have your glass lids secured to the tank so the crabs can't lift the lid off? Thanks for your help! Here is the the lid I bought: http://www.drsfostersmi...

Boiling shells in pot
Since hermit crabs are sensitive to metal is it safe to boil shells in a metal pot? (Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question.) Thanks for your help!
