Re: Naked buried crab
I am sorry I was not clear, and now the situation now seems different. I am sorry. OK Originally Pegleg was never naked and is currently siting in a coconut hut. But I thought he had attacked Calico while Calico was coming up from a molt. Calico was digging out from a molt and i found and empty shel...

Naked buried crab
OK here is the situation, I have a crab that is out of sorts, pegleg, he has been cranky lately. Today Calico jack, sweet crab with loads of personality, was coming up from a molt and pegleg attacked him in the hole. I took pegleg out of the hole and saw calico's shell and thought he was in it. a fe...

Re: Missing Crab
Thank you for the advice, I will double and triple check everything tonight. I have no idea if the shell she was wearing is missing. We have several (maybe 6 or 7) that came in a pack from the craft store, all very similar, she was wering one of those, she is a hider, but 4 months is a long time to ...

Re: Need help from a long time crabber
Thank you for the advice and encouragment. It sounds like I have good turbo options in there for them to choose from. Tapestry for sure around 1.5" so short of finding some HUGE Japanese Land Snail shells, they will have to choose from what is availible.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Missing Crab
Hello all, My littlest crab Anne Bonnie is missing. I thought she was molting. I had not seen her in 4 months which would be a very long molt for her she is pretty small. I was waiting for her and calico jack to come up to switch every body to the new 55 gallon. Calico came up and I expected that An...

Need help from a long time crabber
Hello I am have a problem with my 2 largest crabs (just across the Jumbo line). They both are curtrently residing in Japanese Land snail shells, I know these are not traditionally popular. they have been in them about a year. I am having trouble getting at acurate measurment because the crab leggs a...

Re: Tuna for Cats?
So after all the worrying, they did not eat tuna for cats anyway... Also I think the two large one are getting ready to molt, Paulie changed into a MUCH bigger shell last night, gave me my first opportunity to look at the shell he came in, and although pretty (and natural) it had a hole in it on the...

Re: Tuna for Cats?
I used to feed the crabs "Hermit Crab Food" that is literally all the bottle said, and it was always disturbed, hard to say how much was eaten since it is a powder basically. After finding this site I started adding coconut and cheerios and other fruits and vegetables, mid September I took away the ...

Re: updated tat
I used plastic wrap for a while but was having the same problem (never stays put) I bought 2 - 11x14 pieces of Plexiglas from home depot for $4 each and lay them on the mesh screen I have found it works as good as plastic wrap, doesn't "fly away" and cause conditions problems and you can see through...

Re: dropping humidity
Have you calibrated your gauge? I was having the same problem, I calibrated my gauge and it is off by 21%. Turns out I was killing myself trying to keep my crabitat at roughly 105% humidity. I am off the the store for a better gauge today.

Re: It's done!
To attach the coco mat to the side I did something that was much simpler than it sounds. I bought plastic rulers at the dollar store (3 for 1$) I cut them to size on my table saw, be sure to measure each one to where you want it. If you do not have a table saw you can score the rulers with a utility...

Re: I think he might be stupid.
He looks fantastic and that is a shell worth waiting for. They do make some very funny choices. my almost large changed into a very small shell (for her) last night, she can't even "coil" he legs properly they hang out so far FYI: there are many better choices for her including the one she came out ...
