Re: crab-sitting...CRAB MOLTED!
If you have it there, maybe try feeding him honey or peanut butter on a q-tip. Also, try and get him some saltwater asap. Other then that, there is sadly not much else you can do but hope he survives. Good luck, and prayers coming your way for the survival of the crab!

Crab Deaths
Maybe try to take down the general temp of the tank a bit, not all crabs like it so high, and it could be part of the problem? And also the dead crab with the missing shell might have been attacked because you don't have enough shells to choose from, crabs can be very finicky with stuff like that. H...

Re: Foods Collected Outside - Safe/Preparation?
To get rid of toxins, it would be best to boil anything you give them. Great that you found all this potential crab food

Horrible experience buying crabs last night!
So sad what pet stores do to animals, and even worse what they let the people they hire do to animals. There is this thread I will try to find where hermitmicky00 had a horrible experience with an employee who literally killed one crab and abused another a different time after the manager said he wo...

Re: I'm Not Being Unreasonable, Right? - Adoption Requirment
You are being extremely reasonable! iIf anything, the people who wouldn't fill out the form and found their crabs "somewhere else" are the unreasonable ones! Best policy ever, imagine how many crab lives would be saved if chain pet stores made people fill this form out for evaluation before letting ...

32 gallon build!
Earlier this year I found a cheap can of river shrimp for the crabs to eat by flukers on Amazon while browsing through trying to find something cheap for the crabs. They aren't contaminated with chemicals in the canning process and are very fresh. They have become a staple in the crabs diet, it is i...

How do you store your premixed water?
I sometimes premix water (I also like to refrigerate it for the same reason), and when I do it goes into large empty milk jugs, or whatever type of bottle I can find in the recycling. I would do it more often, but the fridge doesn't have room most of the time. It is so much more convenient when I do...

Re: Those who have live plants.....
I have a couple live plants, they are doing really well with dechlor fresh water. I mist the tank often, making sure to give them and the sub around them and extra good few sprays. I guess since Ryry's is doing well too using the same method, daily dechlor FW mistings are best for crabitat plants. :...

Congratulations! It seems like everything is going great, that is an amazing idea! And I've learned to accept the fact that anything involving crabs is messy

How much molting is normal?
First of all, welcome to the Hermit Crab Association! It would be helpful to know how large they are. Micro and tiny sized crabs can easily molt several times a year, and grow at a pretty fast rate too. As they grow larger the molting will slow down, the growing process seems to slow a bit. They mig...

Tank has been acting weird...
For the past few days I've been having trouble with keeping the heat and humidity up at the same time. I searched everywhere on the site, and I tried any of the tips I could, but lately to get my humidity up, the lamp has to go off, which brings down the heat and within an hour it goes down to 69 de...
