Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
Strong little crab. I’m crossing my fingers for you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thanks. He seemed to burry back down under the few inches in the container. Just the little tip top of the shell is barely poking out. So I feel better now. I still plan on leaving him there until he is up and m...

Re: My Crabitat is kinda smelly. Please, tips!
I tend to wipe down my tank evey other week/spot clean so it gets a pretty good airing out as I remove the lid why working. I lightly mist when done to help boost humidity till it builds back up. I only ever smell a organic earthy smell. Then again I also use a eco earth leaflitter and moss mixture ...

Re: worried new owner!
I second this. Having two crabs myself it hardly seems as if they are eating at all. One woild be consodered a small and the other between a small and medium according to shell size. Having seen mine eat before sometimes it does not look like they ate at all so small the bites. A game changer for me...

Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
That sounds good. As long as he keeps his shell on that means he is not getting a lot worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah he was still shelled. I'll probably check every other day unless something major happens to avoid stressing him more than he already was. But I am optomistic. He was ...

Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
Yes very pale from molting but I saw him move around slowly. Other than putting a little blaclstrap molasses in there I left him alone. I'll check again in a day or two.Hermielover121 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 4:56 pmHas he moved at all?

Re: fresh food rotations
Mine are oppossites they tend to have a sweet tooth something I moniter when I noticed it. They will instantly eat any sweet fruit or honey or molasses. They do not tend to care for veggies and they go crazy for a cooked chicken bone that has been cut in half. I also use this to my advantage though....

Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
Hmmm....okay. If he's underground, you wouldn't know where, so pushing the pop bottle down into the sub far enough to protect the molting crab might cause a problem for the one under. In that case, it might be better to use the Tupperware. That's what I did I found a tall tupaware dish put a little...

Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
Personally, I would iso him where he is. That way, you don't need to disturb him at all. You could use a 2L pop bottle, lid off, bottom cut off. Push it into the sub deep enough that he is protected from your other crab. That is assuming that your other crab is above ground. Your other crab is top-...

Re: The Shell Removal Experiment
I just thought Id pop back on. I know it has been a while. I kept up with the experiment even if I was not posting. I never saw any shell aggression and when I did put the shells in I made sure rhere was three per crab. Some weekends they were highly intrested. Some they ignored them. I did see a fe...

Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
Please immediately move him into an iso tank. This is similar to a surface molt ( but not because of improper care ) so he/she will be vulnerable to cannibalism. Gently place him into the iso tank and try not to handle. Make sure to have lots of protein and calcium available. Sent from my iPhone us...

Re: Accidentally disturbed a molter.
How do you know he is molting? I would guess he is just digging around. Do you see an exoskeleton? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes actually it looked like he was just starting I saw small slivers of shed exo or what looked like it around his legs. I didnt want to touch and go exploring. The ...

Accidentally disturbed a molter.
This is more just me checking in to make sure I did not miss anything else I should do. 1. What kind of substrate is used in your tank and how deep is it? I have a mixture or EE leaflitter and sand but do not remember the exact ratio. I do know it is about 6 to 7 inches deep. 2. Do you have gauges i...
