90 Gallon Upgrade (Progress Pics)
Thanks everyone! And I'm glad I'm not the only one who has Petshop crabs.
Good thing I took pictures before I put the crabs in. My shell shop net lasted all of two nights...

90 Gallon Upgrade (Progress Pics)
I know I just posted one of these with my 40 gallon upgrade in December but I clearly need an intervention because I'm doing it again with a 90 gallon upgrade (it was a deal I couldn't pass up). I wanted to do a natural rainforest faded into beach theme so here's how it went. Hope you guys like pict...

Re: Safe Lighting For Crabs?
Each UVB bulb is a little different by brand and by strength, but each will come with instructions. There is a minimum distance that should be kept between the bulb and the animal to prevent sunburn and eye damage, and a maximum distance where the bulb looses effectiveness. It's usually something l...

Safe Lighting For Crabs?
It's completely safe, but it's going to be super bright - they may not like that as much as a dimmer fluorescent and may stay under cover more just because of the brightness. The only light that could potentially damage a crab's eyes is one that is made to specifically produce UVB, and also metal h...

Safe Lighting For Crabs?
Hello again crab experts. Re: Questions about upgrade
If it's a 40 gal breeder I'm not sure, but I have a 40 gal tall I believe (~36 l x 12 d x 20 h) and 2 bags of sand and about 3/4 of a bag of Eco earth got me 6.5 inches of substrate. If that helps for reference.

Re: Little Worms *puke*
A balanced wormy tat. Oh joy. Lol. They do seem to be good janitors for stray pieces of moldy food. But I'll work on not leaving fresh foods so long. Thanks for everyone's advice and preventing me from digging up molters!

Little Worms *puke*
What size are the worms? If they around 0.1 inches or slightly bigger? If so, how big? To me it sounds like you have micro-worm, grindal-worms white-worms in there, could you describe them a bit more - and maybe take some pics? If they are the worms I mention, they harmless. They'll eat "rotting" f...
Re: Adoptees!
Very cute and healthy looking crabs! Grand Cayman Blues though... Lol. I guess as long as they were taking care of them properly they can call them whatever they want.

Water Cycling
I'm interested in this as well. Does anyone know of a general step by step "pool building and cycling" sticky anywhere? If not I think there should be in the food and water section.
