Re: Purple Pincher Eggs
Well I think they did end up being fertile judging by the color but unfortunately she ended up dropping them in the sand tonight. I tried hatching them in saltwater but didn’t get so much as a twitch out of the babies.

Purple Pincher Eggs
Hello everyone! I’m very excited to say that after a two year gap from trying to raise Strawberry zoea I now have a Purple Pincher with eggs! I thought I would share some pictures because I love looking at the egg pictures on here to compare maturation timeframes. Do these look fertile to you all? J...

Re: MO, KS, OK, AR Adopters
EAST-CENTRAL MISSOURI Hello, I live in East-Central Missouri (along I-44) and travel to Washington and St. Louis, Missouri regularly. I have a 90 gallon tank with around 7 crabs, including Purple Pinchers, Ecuadorians, and a Strawberry Crab. I have had hermit crabs since 2014 and even went as far a...

Re: Egg! What Now?
Sorry about the bad luck with the eggs. Can I ask you where you got your Kreisel tube from? I was interested in building one but wasn’t sure where to find the tube.

Re: Egg! What Now?
I can give my take on a few of these. 1 & 2) Everyone suggested to keep my chemical usage low, so I just tried to use a few drops per jar. However, I did experiment with a few additional drops of ammo lock a couple times and it didn’t seem to have any negative effects. 50% water changes twice a day ...

Re: Questions On Larvae Tank
I’ve been reading this thread for tips for my first batch of zoea. Are you going to raise this batch? I’ll wish the both of us luck! I’m considering it. I have a job that requires traveling a couple days a week sometimes, so it would be tough. Hopefully my details are helpful. Obviously I wasn’t su...

Re: Questions On Larvae Tank
Sorry to revive this thread, but it definitely seems like my male straws are trying to breed with my female again. Poor thing escaped her original entanglement and is currently hiding herself in a corner with the boys trying to get to her. I don’t think she’s ready for another round of babies. Me ei...

Re: Questions On Larvae Tank
Thank you for the info! I made a kriesel...I'm probably going to attempt using that. I'm still not sure. We will see if I even get the chance. I put a topper on my 100 gallon tank, so due to the change in scenery they might not even breed this year. Who knows. You did such a great job!! I hope that...

Also mama crab dropped a second batch of babies that I didn’t catch in time. Probably in my top 5 wor...

Questions On Larvae Tank
Well bad news. I had to leave for a 2.5 day trip for work. Before I left I moved the final surviving megalopa to a transition tank. He seemed active in there and was trying on shells when I left. When I came back he was out of the pool without a shell and dead. It really looked like a crab though! T...
