I'm proud of all of my kids, but I snapped a few shots this morning of my gorgeous Rusty. Sporting a big, purple claw, he's a sexy sight XP

It kind of makes sense that hermit crabs would have the vocabulary of a sailor.

I'm glad you enjoy the posts. I have a quirky sense of humor which is what I guess attracts me to the quirky hermit crab. I'll try to add in some more humor where I can. Hermit crabs are really funny creatures

I revamped their tote again and don't smell the odor anymore. I believe it was definitely the food. I get the earthy sand smell, but it wasn't that. The smell was definitely something I happened to mix into their food. Phew not doing that again.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I just revamped my existing tote again today and feel better for the time being. I'm definitely going to research the appropriate size for a while before I go out and buy something. Kind of want this to be a one time buy deal and not have to worry about upgrading...

I'm upgrading my plastic tote crabitat. I've read the forum post about tank sizing based on size in inches of your hermits. But I have trouble determining the size of my hermies. I took photos of them next to a ruler in the hope that someone will be able to determine whether my kids are small, med, ...

I believe krill is an ingredient in their food. Maybe that's it.

Considering I don't have any moss in my enclosure, it's not that. But I know what smell you mean.

I noticed that someone else also posted about a strange smell in their hermit home and I'm having the same experience. It's not overpowering where the whole room smells, but when I open the enclosure lid it....just...smells....not good. It's not fishy. I can't really describe it. Maybe I'm not used ...
