Re: OMG! Crab found in far part of house!

[quote="hermieluv1" What an excursion he had! He will have lots of cool crab stories to tell around the moss pit tonight![/quote] that cracks me up! before i had a better fitting lid on the tank at the school where i work, i came in and realized that jebediah was missing. he'd recentl...

Re: a cave is born....

Now that you know he's okay, it's best to leave him in perfect darkness. Shining lights on him can prevent him from molting, which can be deadly. Just let him do his thing :) WHAT?! you were totally right, nebuchadnezzer was cave testing, and he just finished his molt and returned to the surface to...

Re: snack stash

they are so super cute! after clem had been sitting on his pecan for a few hours, jebediah, who was on the log above, noticed that clem was snacking so he came down from the log and the two of them stood face-to-face with their feelers flying back and forth at each other. finally jebediah went to th...

snack stash

after combing through the list of approved crab foods, i've tried all sorts of veggies and fruits along with my crabs's freeze-dried protein and calcium powder. peanut butter and honey and unsweetened applesauce...i've tried anything to keep their diet interesting and with the intention of trying to...

Just let him do his thing :) he molted a month ago along with my other two crabs so i doubt that's what he has planned for this cave...but thanks for try...

Re: a cave is born....

well i tried to sneak a peak by looking under the tank and using the flashlight on my phone...nebuchadnezzer was SCANDALIZED and skittered all around the cave which by the way is huge! it was like 2 inches by 3 inches! i had no idea they made a whole den  he's like a boxtroll living be...

Re: a cave is born....

ooooooooh she's so sleek and shiny! i haven't seen all that many horses in my life but her coloring seems extra special like a holstein cow and i love her! nebechadnezzer molted about a month ago which is why i am so confused by his copious cave dwelling. i imagine primitive crab cave paintings on t...

Re: a cave is born....

oh. my. goodness. i could never love another twitchy-eared, nuzzly-nosed horse as much as that guy!!! HAWK! i love him. do the cats love him or do they visit the barn at all? so i guess i can think of cave building like when my cats mock battle each other and then go off to groom, part coping mechan...

Re: a cave is born....

megmaholm, they make EVERYTHING more fun! i wonder why nebechadnezzer likes to cave around so much? the other two hang out on the surface and climb the corners of their glass walls where the glue is and the syran wrap/mesh lid and the plants but nebechadnezzer just isn't much of a surface dweller......

Re: Plant in my crabitat

my crabs are going to have a luxurious healthy exoskeleton if they start eating the aloe plants  i think i'm going to macrame a rope ladder for them too. is untreated hemp alright? i only ask because it smells funny...like petroleum or something very strange. i've let it air our for aw...

Re: Plant in my crabitat

hellllllooo :) so i've got some fake plants for my crabs to climb up into and perch on as well as driftwood but i figured they would eat any real plants (just like my RES turtle who LIVES TO DESTROY but with a smile on her beak). THEN i thought about these succulents that grow quite happily in sandy...
