Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D

Yep, I agree with you hermitcrabdc ! If anything, i would like to add that a 34g tank will work will for that number of crabs for a few years, but when they get a bit larger - eg, the size over a golf ball - it is best to move them onto a larger tank/tote. On that note: Would I be better off just b...

Re: 150 gallon progress thread

Hopefully this is a better pic update since the last was hard to see. I moved the one crab over and he immediately went to hide. Silly thing. He was gorgeous, so pink and purple. (picture) This is the moss pit and the shell shop. (pictures) I don't know if it can be seen, but there's a little spout...

Re: dumbest things people have said about your crabs/other p

People always ask me if I want rat poison for birthdays/Christmas because I have a pet rat  its annoying, and they tell me to kill her like all the time. And my dad doesnt understand why I want a hermit crab, but he'll come around (Hes a major perfectionist, so he wants me to get a 55 gallon, ...

what makes a good diet

I know they need protein, calcium, and then fruits/veg. I'm guessing this is daily? Also, what is the best way to feed calcium? My family doesnt really keep much in the house as far as meats (Ok we have summer sausage, and pepperoni, but those are both seasoned and are pretty unhealthy), so I'm at a...

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D

If it's 20 gallons or larger (can't find it on ikea's website so don't know how big it is) I'd say it's okay to use for 4 hermit crabs if you clean it thoroughly first. This is the bin: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90102971/ It says 34 gallons, and is 30 inches by 22 inches (and is 17...

New to hermit crabs...kinda

I have owned marine hermits in the past, but I'm probably going to start keeping land ones within the next few years! I am pet experienced, and I currently have lots of fuzzy little dudes (Hamsters, dogs, guinea pig, etc). However my father has stated I could get another pet after I get back down to...

I never would have thought that they liked poop! I share your knowledge of how much guineas poop-its almost startling how fast they can make a clean space dirty
Once I get my hermits I'll probably order some food!

Re: TOTE TUTORIAL~ 8D

I was wondering about this-I keep both of my hamsters in bin cages, and I still have the old plastic lid for the one bin-its the large Samla bin from Ikea. Do you think that would be large enough for 4 pps? And is it ok to use since my elderly dwarf hamster is in it currently? (Just want to make sur...
