Re: ants in new tank

I moved the tank farther out from the wall, and the ants have stopped bothering them now I just need to find where they came from.

Re: ants in new tank

I've tried the Vaseline, sticky tape, and vinegar around the outside. I've also cleaned all decor and dishe and only leave food in at night, and by morning the food dishes. are covered with about 20 ants. I don't think they live inside the tank though because there isn't hundreds and I only see them...

ants in new tank

I just set up and moved my crabs to their new tank and found ants crawling in the food dish. I'm not sure if they live in the tank or not. They are very very tiny ants and I saw them crawling out of the tank earlier today but they weren't doing that right now. any advice on how to solve this? Are th...

Awesome shell find!

I have searched craft stores and the dollar stores for shells, and usually only get 5 or so useable ones in packages. But for anyone who lives in the northwest, Craft Warehouse sells large net bags of shells for about 12 dollars, and i got 34 useable shells for small and medium sized crabs. They als...

avi temp heat panel

I was given an avitemp heat panel that is typically used to heat bird cages, and I was thinking about attaching it to the lid of my tank that Is metal mesh, since the heater usually I'd attached to metal bird cage bars. Its an infrared heater, I'm guessing similar to a ceramic heat emitteri just am ...

suction cup help

I made a second level in my new tank and used suction cups, and I recently found out metal is very bad for hermies to be around and these particular cups use a small metal hook. Can I coat it in aquarium sealant or something? The way I set up needs the cups to poke through burlap and. Plastic hooked...

Shell with dot on it

I purchased a couple of shells today because I bought a crab much smaller than any other crabs I have had, and all my current shells were way to big. I didnt notice at the time that both shells have a black market dot on them, presumably to distinguish them by price or make it obvious that they are ...

Re: tank smaller than i thought

I am more worried about having a heater so close to my wall than how to install it. It might seem paranoid but it's better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for your help:)

Re: tank smaller than i thought

This is on a different point, what's your opinion on using two small heaters? I have to small uth that I was thinking of buying and sticking to either short sides of the tank. I can't really put one on the long back because the only places I can put the tank are against a wall

Re: tank smaller than i thought

They did have a second level. I did actually set up my tank (where I live is currently 78 degrees andour humidity is around 65% so getting optimal environment was simple) now I'm just working on moving everyone in. I moved one crab but two are burrowed underground. I can't keep two tanks running for...

moving crabs to a new tank

I just got a 20 "long" tank (the lid I bought for it is meant for a 29 gallon) and it is a huge improvement from my little 6 gallon. I have 3 crabs and moved one today because he was wandering around this morning. He seemed very happy, he is my least active crab and was running around and climbing a...

tank smaller than i thought

I have 3 small-medium crabs in what I believed to be a 10 gallon tank. I've had them for about 3 months. I was given the tank and told it was 10 gallons but now after Doing measurements for a new tank I'm planning to buy tomorrow, I discovered this tank is more around 6 gallons. Now I feel like the ...
