And their strength is really alarming... a full grown specimen has a pinchy strength of 3000 newtons (- that's nearly 675 lbs. of force) which is roughly comperable to a lion's bite. It's more powerful than a large shark's bite. For comparison, a dog's bite is roughly 325 lbs... so we're talking ab...

King crabs
It is believed that true king crabs are descended from hermits by some people. I cannot now unsee the resemblance especially from the backside of a king crab to coconut crabs.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with these? Aegla are to squat lobsters as crayfish are to lobsters it seems like. Squat lobsters are actually closer to being crabs as well.

For scientific study there is no reason to keep them alive - they aren't going to fuss with keeping them since they'll have to prove they were treated humanely the entire time and it falls intp a different and much more stringent category of oversight.
