Advice Needed for Gecko UTH
I'm upgrading my gecko to a 20G next week. Now, I know once I peel the heat mat off the 10G the adhesive will be shot, but I only juse bought ithe new when I got him about a month ago. I don't know about putting the clear duck tape directly on the mat, but would it be safe placing a square of coropl...

Re: Temporary Insulation
It's a blue one I bought mainly just for a bit of light in the room at night. It's a very low wattage. Regular bulb shape too. Do you think the same type in a higher wattage would help much?

Re: Temporary Insulation
That's awesome hahaha I might get a heat bulb and swap out the night bulb on the second level then to help some. Hopefully they stop being jerks and send someone soon (still not returning my calls) but I will burrito it up this weekend! Luckily it's in it's own room, so no kitties getting in there heh

Re: Temporary Insulation
Did you wrap them around, or just place over top? I'll keep an eye out for those emergency blankets. Thanks!

Re: UTH Recommendations for Geckos
I've thought about breeding them, though found a girl in town who does. She sells them cheaper than the stores and will "swap" any pupaes and beetles for worms lol

Temporary Insulation
So, our building manager is awful and we've been calling and calling to get someone in to clean our heaters, as we were told we shouldn't run the heat until they're cleaned (as our last building manager never did once) and we're getting no call backs. While we fight with them, it's getting chilly. T...

Re: UTH Recommendations for Geckos
Thanks so much for the info Wode! It's been about as long as it had been since I had hermies that I've had a gecko so I know I have some catching up to do.

Re: UTH Recommendations for Geckos
Alright, placement questions lol I know they need belly heat for digestion but I was reading the instructions (as I've never used this brand) and it says if you're using a thin sub (like newspaper or paper towels) to mount the UTH on the side in a lower corner. Is the repticarpet thick enough to mou...

Re: UTH Recommendations for Geckos
So, after reading like 30 reviews and talking to the staff (our Petsmart is good for actually knowing their stuff) I bought the All Living Things one. There's a $15 difference between it and the ZooMed one, and they're both 8W, and I have 60 days to return it if I need to. I got the Repticarpet for ...

Re: UTH Recommendations for Geckos
Yeah, I always read (again when I was young and trusted pet stores) that they require UVB for calcium absorption but I'm finding that's not true? I was thinking one of those ceramic bulbs as I have a couple extra light fixtures still, but haven't been able to find a pro/con of using over a mat. Hmm ...

Re: UTH Recommendations for Geckos
Haha thanks for the tips!Unfortunately it's going to be sitting on my desk so I can't do the same. Is it okay to put them on the side of the tank, or better underneath for digestion aide? With Winter approaching, the room they're in will probably be a bit cooler. May just use the dimmer switch I hav...
