Re: Death Investigation. Aftermath Questions.
I am sorry you lost Wash. Curse his sudden but inevitable betrayal. [CRYING FACE] Stay shiny lil guy. Made my day, thank you. :) All I can think of is how often the little guy was moved and the off brand EE. The small ones get scared easier and seven weeks usually isn't enough to de-stress, molt, e...

Re: Death Investigation. Aftermath Questions.
Here's a link to the original post about the crabitat itself. There are pics of the setup and maybe a bit more information:

Death Investigation. Aftermath Questions.
So I just lost my biggest and most social little one, Washington or "Wash", for reasons unknown. Brief background before all the questions: I got Wash in February and he's been through one successful molt in a 10 gallon tank. I just recently (about a week ago) moved back home from the University for...

Re: Wash doesn't like the new crabitat? Is something WRONG?
It saddens me to report that Wash moved on tonight. I went to check on him to see if he had eaten anything and I found him, un-moving, half out of his shell, two legs lying beside him on the ground. I gave him a gentle brush on the ends of his feelers to see if he was responsive at all and he did no...

Re: Wash doesn't like the new crabitat? Is something WRONG?
Wash's last molt was 7 weeks ago and, turns out it lasted about 7 weeks. Is that the turnover rate for most molts? same time on as off? I thought they spent more time above ground than they did molting (mostly). As for the water, I was thinking I didn't do the dechlorinator right because he avoided ...

Do you have any sketches of your plans with it? I'd love to see the ideas you're getting!
Or if you don't, I'd highly suggest sketching some things out, it might help sort out all those ideas bouncing around

Re: Wash doesn't like the new crabitat? Is something WRONG?
Quick update. Moved Wash back to the 10 gallon and he seemed to liven up a bit more, his feelers are twitching and he made a quick trip to both water dishes and refueled. I put some fresh food in there with him and he seems to be more comfortable, he doesn't look all . . . . well . . . dying. I thin...

Re: Wash doesn't like the new crabitat? Is something WRONG?
I don't think he is doing very well . . .
All day he has just sat, unmoving and limp half out of his shell, this really isn't like him, he's usually at least twitching his feelers a bit or brushing sand off the ends of his legs.
I was thinking I should move him back to the 10 gallon just incase??

Wash doesn't like the new crabitat? Is something WRONG?
Ok, so I got a new crabitat set up a couple days ago. It's a 30 gallon with 7 inches of sub (eco-earth and play sand mix). As I was mixing the sand and EE though, it gave off a smell similar to Copenhagen brand chew tobacco. Sort of a sweet, tart/tangy smell?? That's the only thing I can compare it ...

A Late Introduction
Alright, here it is, finally. I've got a nice little 10-gallon (plans to upgrade during the summer once I'm out of college) with 2 little boys named: Washington "Wash" Leif, and Waldo Hydeawae. (see what I did there?) I've had them since February 9th, 2015. There used to be a third little one named ...

Re: Wash's Sneaky Return!
Before and After pics of Wash, I love his new color!! BEFORE: Sort of a tannish, yellow-orange. That shiny disc is a quarter (for scale) http://i.imgur.com/akZDLab.jpg http://i.imgur.com/K1o3gKG.jpg AFTER: Deep, deep purple and bright red at the tips of his legs. He's so hairy too! http://i.imgur.co...
