Re: Chirping while molting
I noticed the same thing this week. I have 2 crabs down right now and nowhere near each other. i heard the chirping and figured it was a scuffle of sorts but when I checked the 2 were still down near the glass and undisturbed by the others. they were both chirping by themselves. These little critter...

Re: natural temp drop
wodesorel is right about the different brands though for sure. I recently bought a blue light and everything was the same except the brand and it seems dimmer. I found that my crabs were out and about more with the first one and it gave me better viewing to boot.

Re: PVC pipe safe?
Thanks a bunch wodesorel, those are some great ideas. I like what you did with the sand, maybe I could epoxy some sort of bark to the sides above the sand level. I was actually thinking of a way to keep the water tubs and anything a bit heavy off the sand and this solves those problems as well. ![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/003.gif)

Re: DIY Pools
I have a 29g and use rectangular plastic storage containers from the dollar store for the pools. http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b594/azbee8/030_zpszshhznwc.jpg I've "doubled" the pools using 4 containers: two pools are sunk into the substrate with about 1/2" remaining above ground, then a laye...

Re: Winter digging?
That's funny, I was just wondering the same thing. I have 5 pp and they all seem to disappear in the winter. There always seems to be 4 out of the 5 that are down...even with good temp and humidity in the tank. Its a bit frustrating because I am in the process of setting up a new tank for them and a...

Re: Aquarium lid and heating?
ok maybe the UTH is a better idea. I assume your tank is a large one? what size UTH should be used for a 60g? can I put it on the side of the tank and expect the same results or do I need to put on the back? I would really like to make a back ground like in some of the tutorials on the DIY forum her...

Aquarium lid and heating?
Ok so I still flipping between setting up my 30 g or my 60g tanks. The only concern I have about the 60 g is that it I only have a regular aquarium lid for it and I don't think I can put a heat light in that. Is there another way I can add a heat light to the tank? Should I consider using UTH ? I as...

I'm making a list of the supplies I'll need to make a background for the new tank |I'm gonna set up. I've seen some pretty cool DIY projects with spray foam and silicone etc but What is everyone spraying the foam onto? Plexiglass, wood, screen of some sort? Also , the silicone is usually mixed with ...

Gave my crabs honey for first time!
I wanted to try a new treat for the crabs the other day. I took out my largest PP and set out a little dish with peanut butter cheddar cheese and honey it went right for the honey and spent 15 minutes scooping it in. I loved it, they didn't even go after the shrimp this fast. Looks like it's got a s...
