Re: Substrate repacement
Some folks do a deep clean yearly, churning the substrate to help aeration, but I don't think many actually remove all of the substrate just for the sake of putting in 100% new -- it's a pain to mix and get the substrate in there to begin with! I'm of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school: I...

Re: Suction cups not holding!
I clean the glass and then rub some olive oil on the cups as suggested by others on this site. They stay up about 2-3 months before coming down. I just reclean glass and put on some more olive oil. Works for me.

Re: pool question
From what I've read here it can sometimes take them a while to explore the new pools. I'm waiting for the same thing myself so I feel your pain lol One thing I read about sinking the pools...put 2 of the same size container inside each other with marbles or beads or something like that between them...

Re: pool question
I really don't want to add a pump and an air stone. I have plenty of humidity in the set up and air flow.

pool question
So I have a good set up based on what I've read here, other than not having a deep water dish for my crabs to completely submerge. The other day I placed a 4x4x4 tupperware type container in one corner on top of substrate and set it up so that there was a way in and out of the container, using mesh ...

Changing water
Hi. New member here. I've been reading over posts and can't seem to find an answer on how often to change out water in pools. I've been changing every 2 or 3 days when I see substrate or other stuff floating around. Is there a hard fast rule on water changes?
