They also had these small flashlights for a buck. It will be handy to keep by the tank to take a peek ...

Quick advice needed

The one to the upper right just came up from a molt. Are they too close? What should I do if anything? Sen...

Shell change...a lot

My newly molted crab keeps changing shells. He/she seems restless. I have 10 shells in the tank of various sizes in a shell shop. Do you think I should get more? Is it possible that he/she can't find the right shell? Should I get more shells? Of note, the other 2 are down molting. Do crabs get lonel...

My first molt ever is successful

I'm so happy. The waiting is tough. He/she is so active now running around the crabitat and throwing shells from the shell shop all over.

molting near heat source

I have 2 crabs down. I spotted one this morning down right next to the side heat source. This has me worried so I turned the heater off. Does this sound like a good thing to do? I live in upstate NY and it is very hot and humid now. Do you think he needs the heat or could it burn him/her?

Can I mark the shells?

Hi. I'm still relatively new to crabs. When my daughter brought them home, they were in awful painted shells. Thanks to this board, I became a good mom and set up a lovely crabitat and new natural shells. All three picked green turbo shells almost immediately. I have one down molting. I cannot reall...

Deal alert. Shower caddy and dilemma

First off, my 5 below store had a 3 pack of plastic shower caddy' s for 4 dollars. One is about 6 inches deep, one soap dish, and one about 3 inches deep. I'm going to make a shell shop out of the soap dish and a moss pit out of the deep one. They all have suction cups. I thought it was a great deal...

Re: Deep clean?

Thanks. I'll do that with my shells. Is that a live plant? How can I keep.a plant in the tank? Are the roots in the substrate?

Deep clean?

Hi again. I am a relative newbie. Daughter came home last year with 3 crabs in painted shells from NC. Thanks to this site, I set up a proper crabitat and they immediately switched to natural shells. I plan on cleaning them today. What is meant by a deep clean? I plan on taking the top layer of sand...

cuttlebone?

My crabs are much happier thanks to this site. I recently read that I should put a cuttlebone in my tank. Is this the same as a bird cuttlebone? Thanks.
