Re: 130l+130l setup
Thanks! Correct, I have 3 violas :) . About the construction, we purchased large sheets of plexiglas that we bolted together using small plastic rods (small plexiglas pieces). The plastic rods and the sheets were molten together using an old soldering iron. Any curvature was achieved through heating...

130l+130l setup
I am so excited about the new addition to my crabitat. I have wanted to build a topper for the aquarium for so long but I lack the skills to do so… Fortunately for me, my dad took on the project, and it turned out amazing! So the aquarium itself is 130 litres and the topper is the same size. The top...

Re: baby hermit crabs
So I just wanted to do a quick update. Since my first post I have gotten new live zoeas every month. I never get them to live past 10-15 days, but I try to improve how I handle them every time. At least I guess I'm doing right by my grown crabs since they keep breeding heh. I guess what I've learned...

Re: baby hermit crabs
Just a quick update.
I moved them to another tank the day after my first post.
Most of them died around the 15th day and right now I have only seen one left.
Well, at least I tried
Thanks for the tips!

Re: baby hermit crabs
Thanks for all of the replies. I moved the crabs to a separate aquarium this morning. I know that the chances of success are very slim, but I will take care of them the best I can. Thanks for the shell tip. I live in a country that most of the US companies don't ship to, so shells are hard to come b...

baby hermit crabs
I am sorry if this does not count as an emergency, but I did not know where else to post it! Also, I am kind of freaking out right now. I was just about to change the water in the saltwater bowl, when I noticed hundreds of spawn (not sure about the English name for it). So... What am I supposed to d...

Re: New here, my crabitate :)
So I have been thinking about doing something more with the setup for quite some time now, but sometimes for some reason it's so hard to get going! Anyway, so because of you I finally got around to do some changes. It is not very pretty with the white plastic tough, but it will make do for the momen...

Re: New here, my crabitate :)
I jumped on my laptop to get a look. It's very pretty! I love the little plants (live?). I agree on bumping up the lower side of sub some - I had a very bad experience with sloping substrate so it always makes me nervous now. You'd think they'd stick to digging on the deeper end but that's not alwa...

Re: New here, my crabitate :)
Violas are so pretty! I <3 them. On my phone they look like PP but on my laptop they quite obviously have orange feelers. There are crabbers on this forum who have used strictly EE for years with no issues so it can be a personal preference! Cheers! Indeed they are pretty :D Well it seems to be my ...

Re: New here, my crabitate :)
Hi! Welcome to HCA! Your setup looks great; there are just a few questions I had. How deep is your sub at the low point? You may want to even it out or bump that side up to provide them with optimal digging space for molting. What is your sub consistency? I see you have a lot of Eco Earth, which is...

So I am new to this forum but I've had hermit crabs my whole life.
