Would those 4 crabs do well in a 20 gallon?? I just realized I have an extra ultratherm heat mat and sand so I could totally set that up for them. I think I can even get the 20 gallon for free.

Over stocking?
I have a 55 gallon with about 10-12" of sand. My dad just text me and said that a guy at his work has kids who don't want their crabs anymore.. I know they're not being taken care of and I really want to take them in. But I already have 2 strawberries, 2 E's, and 2 PPs. I'm pretty sure they're all P...

Re: Good shell shop in Orange Beach ?
If anyone else needs this, I found a place called souvenir city and it had turbo's and even the African turbos but they were all small-medium.

Re: Show me your fabulous crabitats!
I'm not sure how well you can see it, but I love using dowels (or anything really) and putting some kind of flat hard piece (like wood or acrylic) and then Coco climbing wall glued on top and making it a second level. (There's 2 staked in the picture) This is a 55, and I have just a bunch of wood an...

Good shell shop in Orange Beach ?
I'm in Orange Beach Alabama for a few days and I was planning on buying some shells for the crabs while I was here to try to skip shipping prices. I went to the purple octopus and while they did have a HUGE selection of shells they were all decorative, none could actually fit the crabs except for so...

Re: Lid for 55 gallon
It's a mat on a piece of acrylic dowels. It's like a second level, you can kind of see it to the right side on the picture of the tank I have two on top so it's like 3 levels. But under it's all free sand space

I ended up going with the glass. I keep it down with duct tape in the back and some rocks. I also got two strawberries today!! My lfs had them. Re: Lid for 55 gallon
So I bought a tank with the dollar per gallon sale and it has no cover. I thought about building those easy sliding glass lids but it was 20 bucks just to get it for my 29 gallon, so if I'm going to spend the money it might as well be something better than that. I really like the marineland hinge g...

Re: Overcrowding
Totes are a good idea. I may try to find a bigger one and keep just the Es there until I can get a bigger tank for everyone.
And if that still doesn't work, I will have to adopt him out. Its just hard finding someone in my area I would trust with them.

Re: Overcrowding
I never thought about the communication, but if no one has really tried it I think I would rather take my chances with him being a little lonely than put in too many crabs and experience dug up molters and fights like many people have. I feel bad for him not having anyone to really talk to.. but I d...

Re: New Adoption
thank you, my humidity is always a little under 80, but my heat is a little tricky to keep over 80. one section is usually 74 and the other is mostly 81.. but since you've told me that I'm going to try to up my insulation and keep it all over at least 77 this Sunday.
