Re: Crabs are cold-how to troubleshoot?
Yep, that’s what my panicked brain couldn’t think of. The heater is fine, have to get a new thermostat, and in the meantime watch the temp constantly. Thanks!

Re: Crabs are cold-how to troubleshoot?
Usually between 80 and 85. The back of the tank is cold.

Crabs are cold-how to troubleshoot?
Everything was fine on Friday, but today the crabitat is room temperature-between 70 and 75. I have an insulated ultratherm on the back controlled by a zilla thermostat. What do I do to figure out where the problem is, or which piece of equipment has failed?

Re: How can I tell if he's stuck?
Haha, just fine. I left town the day I posted that, left instructions for my husband to try to dump her out later on, after two or three dumps I said to just leave her be, clearly she knew what she was doing.Acceb_becca wrote:How's he doing?

Re: Evolution of a Crabitat
Looks fantastic, thanks for putting all those pictures up, they're really helpful; I'm in the process of setting up a tank. Can I ask the reason why you have raised the substrate off the bottom of the tank? H Sorry for the delay, been quite a year, lol... The false bottom is protection against floo...

Re: Oh, crab! The crabitat has to move....
Well, my husband insisted that they should be able to move it without taking anything out. I figured he would change his mind when they tried it. What they did was actually pretty clever. We discovered that the kitchen table is almost exactly the same height as the tank stand. We put furniture glide...

Re: Oh, crab! The crabitat has to move....
I will be taking out as much as I can. Don't know that it can all come out, guess that depends on how many are under and where they might be. I guess my question is less about keeping the sub wet, and more whether styrofoam might hurt it. My only other readily available option is a laundry basket. :...

Re: Oh, crab! The crabitat has to move....
Hard to say. I had three, but pretty sure one never came up from his first molt. Adopted five, lost one of those within a couple weeks, I *think* I have seen everyone else at least once since then, but never all at the same time.

Oh, crab! The crabitat has to move....
Been quite a while since I was last on here, I'll post about that elsewhere. The very short version of the story is that I have no choice but to move my 55 gallon tank across the room. A friend will be here tomorrow, hopefully he can help my husband move it (I am not allowed to lift right no...

How can I tell if he's stuck?
http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/29/d398b757e2308b2f6a758330529c296d.jpg Every time I have looked for the last couple days, this is what I've seen. I don't know where anybody else is. I have been really busy, and just don't know if he's been out of there. And of course, I am about to leave town...

Time For A New Lid
I kept hearing this noise, and finally went to see what the dog was chewing up. For once, she was innocent. Followed my ears, and discovered this little snot shredding the foam board covering the gap in the lid. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/23/7c4c8cf4879be83fee98fe721c5de76f.jpg Sent from m...

Re: Skeet
Hi, there, and thanks for joining the group! I know some others will chime in, but I wanted to throw a couple things out there for you to get started on. You want your substrate to be six inches deep minimum, deeper is always better. Crabs love to dig, and like to go deep when they molt. You can eit...

Re: Good crabitat?
If anybody but me was fooling with them, I might think twice about the bricks. I did wrap them in paper to prevent scratching the glass. I do something in there every day, change food, water, pick up what they knock over, something, so the lids get opened daily. Plus, one side has a replacement lid ...

That I am not sure on. I have seem them in the store and wondered about them, but I don't remember reading anything here at all about them.
