He will not die unless he continues loosing limbs. Try to not pick him up at all because that will cause more stress to him.

Healthy: They're colors will be vibrant at not pale
Active: You can't exactly tell if they're active because they are are nocturnal but I guess whichever one is walking around the tank the most is active.

You can find cuttlebone in the bird section of the pet store, during a hermit crabs molt they eat their exoskeleton but when he comes up you can give him some cuttlebone & other nutritious foods Hope this helped.

Have you seen any other signs of molting? Lethargism is a sign of molting sometimes.
