Hermit crabs shouldn't have holes in their shells. Stuff might get in the holes and hurt their sensitive abdomen. However, I think there was a thread about fixing small holes using aquarium silicone or something like that, though.

Use Shells From Seafood?
I went to a seafood restaurant and decided to use the shells from the snails I ate for my hermit crabs. Is that okay? I cleaned and boiled the shells before I gave them to my hermits and they really seem to like them. I'm not really sure what species the shells are from, though. As soon as I figure ...
