Re: Heating Methods
What brand is your UTH? Definitely make sure it can be safely insulated before doing so. A lot of the pet store ones just can't keep up with heating a crab tank. Ultratherms are great and safe to insulate, or you can always supplement with a heat bulb - just keep in mind that can kill your humidity...

Re: Heating Methods
How large is your tank and how large is the UTH? Ideally your tank should be at least 80°F. You will either need to get a larger UTH, Ultratherms are really good, or try to insulate this one with aluminum foil and cardboard or foam board. You can use packing tape to tape the layers down. Make sure ...

Heating Methods
Hi everyone, I have a quick question on keeping my crabitat warm. I have a UTH on the back of the tank that is kept on at all times and a blanket over the lid of the crabitat. However the temperature is only about 73 degrees. What can I do to get this number up? I don't think the brand of UTH I have...

Re: Should I Dig?
No, never, ever dig up a ppossibly molting crab. It has not been long enough, and you could likely kill them if they are molting. Another thing, you might want to buy tank lid clips to keep the lid secure, and then you could put the wall back in. Good luck! :) Thank you! I will give it a little mor...

Should I Dig?
Hi all, first of all I am happy that the HCA is back up and running so I can ask a couple quick questions! While the forum was down, I discovered one of my crabs at the top of the tank almost lifting up the lid and escaping. I gently placed her back on the substrate and removed the climbing wall tha...

That's why I washed it out because that was my first thought! Thank you.wodesorel wrote:Sounds like mold or fungus growth, if the food had been in for a few days. You can get some really bizarre looking growths sometimes!

Found "Skin"?
Hi everyone, this is not an emergency but I am very confused and worried. Last night, my crab Bungie who had been down for a couple days came up and started eating from a food bowl that had been in for a couple days. This morning, I discovered a thin white piece of what looked like skin in the bowl....

"New" Crabs in the Crabitat
Hey everyone! In addition to the 3 crabs I have (Athena, Bungie, & Charlie) I am also taking in and caring for my sister's three crabs, which I have renamed Barbie, Atlantic, and Carlos. Two of them have already dug down to de-stress/molt in their new home so here is a picture of Barbie, the only on...

Re: Getting Hot Glue off shell?
I have an idea! Whenever I am working on a project using hot glue, if I press the tip of the hot glue gun (with glue not coming out it) it melts the already hard glue. Then while it is all melty, quickly scrape it off. You could try doing that. Hopefully it works. Proud owner of 6 PPs,Twinkie, Twee...
