Hi, new to this site.
Hello and welcome. I haven't been at it as long, but like you I knew nothing at first. I was told to use a small tank with gravel covering the bottom, and that the food had to be placed on one half of the wet sponge or they couldn't eat it. That was worse than just the wet sponge. I didn't have Herm...

Salt Question
Thanks, that helps a lot. I wasn't sure about it being for fresh water fish. I wanted to make sure it wasn't something different from what you guys have used. I thought the package sounded a bit silly saying it was made from sea water but couldn't be used in a salt water aquarium. Now I'm thinking m...

Salt Question
I was looking at some different salt brands, and I noticed all the Api says it is for freshwater fish. It is cheaper than the Instant Ocean I've been using, but is it okay to use? It says it is made from evaporated sea water, but not to use it in marine aquariums. I don't know why. What do you think?

Finally, I Got Crabs!
Tank is definitely a PP. He has the D shaped eyes and a huge purple claw.Hershey's claw is chocolate with a purple streak down the middle and a white tip. It isn't very much bigger than his feeding claw. His eyes are not the D shape, which is why I wasn't sure what he was. The closest I've found to ...

Finally, I Got Crabs!
My local pet store has started carrying crabs, so Hermia won't be alone anymore. I got 2 to start out with, one is slightly bigger than Hermia and one is about 1 1/2 times her size. As far as I can tell they are both males. They've been in iso, and were just introduced today. So far, so good. The big...
