Where to get E's
Petcos sometimes carry them. It's also common to see them in mom and pop pet stores. Livehermitcrabs.com does carry them, but I've heard nothing but bad reviews from them.I'd wait till spring to buy any since, winter shipping can be very damaging to the crab.

All living things live moss for hermit crabs
Most live mosses sre safe for hermit crabs. It's just when the mosses have dyes in them, they're dangerous to the crab. Since this moss is "live moss" I doubt theirs any harmful dyes in it.

Zoo med dual humidity gauge
I use to have one of these and yes, it did work. Although after several months it broke. I now use digital gauges which have all lasted a lot longer than the dial ones I had used previously.

can ruggie hermit crabs and ecuadorians live together
The two species can live together fine. Are you positive it's a ruggie? I often see people misidentify lighter colored ecoudorians calling them ruggies. A ruggie has more delicate looking body often thinner compared to an Ecoudorian, that and color, but they are often the same color ecoudorian.

zoo med moist hermit crab food
I looked at the ingredients and I don't see anything that's harmful to hermit crabs, but Fresh food is going to be a lot healthier than this. I recomend you feed fresh fruits and vegetables rather than this.

Searching for Ecuadorians
Petcos tend to have them a lot. You can call your local pet stores to see which species they're carrying. I strongly recomend you don't buy from livehermitcrabs.com most people who buy from them have to wait months until they even get an answer from the owner about when they're crabs are being shipp...

Local petstore conditions
The pet stores near me usually have a long tank with a hest source, 2 water bowls and some hides. Sadly they all feed commercial pellets, but some of the stores near me offer fruits and veggies in addition to pellets.

gluing wiggly eyes with aquarim sealant on hermit crab shells
I don't see why it's not safe, but it's not at all necessary and it's quite cruel actaully. These are live animals not an arts and crafts toy.

painted coconut hut
You really don't want to use any painted object in your crabitat, paint as far as we know is potentially harmful to hermit crabs. So no, the hut is not safe. If you want a coconut hut then just buy a coconut from a supermarket and make one your self.

New to this forum.
Hi! I'm new to this forum, I've owned hermit crabs since 2006, currently I own 7 purple pinches and 1 indo. I've been a member of the HCA (hermit crab association) for about a year now. So I have been talking with lots of other crabbers, I just wanted to try something different so I joined this forum.

buying hermit crabs in painted shells
Well it's not known for sure that the paint is in fact toxic. There's no studies on the effect of paint on hermit crabs. The paint does start to chip over time though and hermit crabs being scavengers will eat the paint. Hermit crabs are sensitives to chemicals so eating paint chips in theory wouldn...
