Hello, I'm new here.
Welcome! I also started crabbing around 2012. Let me tell you now, it's an addiction. Started with a 20 gallon, now have upgraded to a 75.

How many crabs in a 75 gallon?
I normally go by the 5 gallons to a crab rule (so the 75 could hold 15 crabbies), however I was going through some older posts and noticed that others with 75s had more than that. Right now I have 2 smalls, 1 medium, 2 borderline larges, and 2 larges. I will be adding 3 medium to borderline larges o...

75 Gallon Finally Set Up!
Well, 7/10 of the crabbies are in their new home! the remaining three are finishing up molts in the 20 gallon. They are loving it! I also got my shipment from the hermit crab addiction. I got two four inch choyas, a fourteen inch choya, earthworm castings, and a build-a-mix. They keep hiding all the...

Side Heater Really Necessary?
I've never had one on my crabitat, however the room it's in never dips below 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Should I save up for one or just leave it as is?

Hello again!
I haven't been on since last summer, but I'd like to jump back into the forum life. My hermits are doing fine, there are 8 of them now, mostly from rescues from around the neighborhood. They're all in a 20 gallon, which is super overcrowded, but I've had a population boom with all the kids coming ba...

crabs and lizards
THe only lizard that I have found to enjoy the same conditions as hermits is the Crested or Eyelash Gecko. I have one myself and his tank is right next to the hermits' tank. They enjoy staring at each other through the glass but they stay separate. I think this would be one of the best candidates fo...

Categorized food list
I have been feeding my hermies an all organic diet, but organic veggies are pretty expensive. Does it have to be organic or just no preservatives?

Hello!!!!
Ok here is what I could set up for her so far with some extra supplies I had on hand: a five gallon with about ten extra shells, (I made her throw away the painted one) with about three to five inches of Eco Earth and sand, saltwater and freshwater, the tank has a lid and light, a plastic plant and ...

You may want to take the sponge out of the water dish, as your hermit can't drink from it. If you're worried about drowning, put some aquarium gravel in the dish. Sponges are good for humidity and cellulose, but they are hot spots for bacteria breeding. Also, I love freshwater aquariums too! I have ...
