Repetitive streaking
Yeah....I suppose that may actually be what's going on. I'll try to snap a pic of him next time he's shell less. Today he's back in one of his preferred ones. It was stressing me out so badly I had a crab nightmare that they all fried up

Tips for beginning a deep clean with crabs down
So some of you may remember that I've had half my crabs MIA since August/September. Well feb marks a year since my last deep clean. That's too long for my 40gal... I have all of my med-large crabs up and the rest haven't been seen in months. I'm assuming they are all dead. I know that tiny-small mol...

What are some good hermit crab treats?
Date rolls! Great for humans and loved by crabs! You can buy them at the store or make them which seems to be much cheaper. DatesA tad of boiling water just poured over the dates but not cover. Soak them for 10-15mins. Make sure they are pitted and put into a food processor and run until mushed. Rol...

Recommended beta fish site?
I'm adopting a beta today from a sad environment and I'd love to put the same great care into him as we have into our crabs. I found some general information but wondered if anyone here could recommend a beta site that they love or a forum? ThanksBeka

maple wood
So since the crabs can eat the leaves from maple or oak trees, provided they are untreated, we can add the branches as well? The purpose would be for?....climbing and decor @laurie, or do you suspect that they will eat it too? What's the purpose of soaking it in their water (as we would the acorns/l...

molting
I have a few crabs that are micro/tiny and I almost never see them because they molt so frequently. One that was a micro August 2012 and is still a small now, I will see him for a day or few and then won't for a couple of weeks.

Plexi
I've had a rough time in my 2+ years with my 40 gallon breeder (which was a gift). it may be the only one in existence without a middle bar so there are no lids for it that i can find. i have also thought hard about the plexi but it just doesn't make sense for the same reasons….i think this spring I...

Cooking Experiment
It sounds like everyone here is well informed in various health topics. I just wanted to chime in and add that sometimes, despite what we know, we can't always do it all....I love to cook, and I love farm-to-table, I doubly love to eat, and on top of it I am very well educated on the benefits of eat...
