my tarantula's crickets
They are garbage eaters, not hunters. In my experience, the only crickets they eat are already dead!

New crab and some questions
You can use your smaller tank as an ISO. Most crabbers here isolate new crabs for 30 days before putting them in the main tank. They also recommend your ISO match the conditions at the store and that you gradually bring it to ideal conditions. Which is no big if the conditions at the store are good!...

Aw sorry. Poor little guy never had a chance. At least he had some better care at the end.

That would be awesome! All pet stores should have somebody like you who can be a pet advocate. So glad their response was so positive!

Hi Kirrie!Congrats to you and your new crab. Sounds like you really saved "him."No worries on the size difference. It's actually helpful because then they won't try to steal each other's shells! I have tiny-large in my tank and everybody crawls over each other and gets along fine. His color will most...

40gal breeder lid and lighting ?s
I am so lucky to be in CA where heat is not a huge issue. I have two UTH on the back of the tank, one is small (I got it free with some crabs I rescued) and the other is my big one which is rated for much bigger than my tank. I have an overhead fluorescent light which does seem to give off some heat...

I personally like acrylic. You can buy it at Home Depot type shops and it's really pretty cheap. Then you just score it with an xacto knife where you want and snap! break it to fit! My husband can even drill holes. I went so far with my 20 gal to get a metal mesh lid (like for reptiles) and cut acry...

Will I be Mrs. His-Name?
My friends each took each other's last name. So her last name is Kirkland-Jones and his last name is Jones-Kirkland. I have no idea which one they're giving the kids!I just want to say that even though I took my husband's last name, I'm still a "Brown." No words can change that. I will always be a B...

Hermit Crab Lethargy
I agree with jenok, I don't think popcorn is enough for them. Mine would eat it all day every day which is why I only give it a few times a month. They need a lot of protein. People think of them as little herbivores but they are omnivorous trashivores! I've heard you should give them protein almost...

Rotting Food?
What if you allow the food to rot in the crabitat? Just for a few days - like leave an apple or some chicken in there for two or three days. Would that give them an opportunity to eat rotten stuff? I find that things rot very quickly in the tat but always figured it was bad for them so try to remove...

Wow! This is new info! I have a newly set up Betta 5 gal and am already very attached to the little guy. I've been using warm water from the tap - but not anymore!
