Help?! New crab owner
I work at the place I got them at! Unfortunately they don't but I'm going back to wander the beach soon so I can get a few more and save them from the horrors of terrible treatment.

Help?! New crab owner
Yes. Raj made his own hiding spot underneath a little container that I put in, for him to hide in. He obviously doesn't like it.

Help?! New crab owner
I remember reading that somewhere too. I think Raj is either molting or destressing because he keeps digging under. I know he's eating cuz he left a lot of sand on his food.

Help?! New crab owner
I do have a Ecuadorian named Raj! I figured that out, but I'm trying not to bother Cas until he's decided to move around and de-stress. I am going to try to find a good shell for him, and a couple more just in case Raj wants to move too.

Help?! New crab owner
Haha probably. Virginia Beach has so many people! But now I do have a legitimate cage for them! I keep my window open so it's about 80 degrees, plus the humidity which is so bad! I think I have a Ecudorian, but then Cas hasn't came out of the shell, so I of course don't know yet.

Also I can't tell what species my crabs are, and I don't want to hold them. How can I tell?

Help?! New crab owner
Ok, thanks. I know I need to add stuff for them to crawl around on and in. Can I use empty and clean yoplait containers as caves and small huts? Or will the ink and stuff from the detailing on the outside kill them? Also my smallest crab, the one who isn't moving (his name is Cas) is in a very small...

Help?! New crab owner
I've got substrate deep enough to bury him in. So should I not touch him or anything to make sure he's still alive?

Help?! New crab owner
Yeah. When I leave I stick them in my room, leave my window open and turn on a humidifier. Today the temp was 85.5, but I'm not sure about the humidity. I have one crab that is very active and acting normal, but there's another one that's not moving unless I hold him. I know he's alive but I don't t...

Help?! New crab owner
Ok thank you. So right now, I guess I need new substrate, salt and freshwater, and someway to keep the tank warm. After that I think I should be good!

Help?! New crab owner
Can I just use regular ocean water? I mean I live not even 30 mins away from there. And do I really have to get rid of the calci-sand? It was like 5 bucks.

Help?! New crab owner
Yea, I used calci sand. My house is usually anywhere from 74-75, and right now I'm not too sure about the humidity. That's my biggest issue, cuz I can get them almost anything else, but I have no idea how to regulate the humidity! I've been keeping my window open with a humidifier on. Or if I take a...

Help?! New crab owner
So I work in a boardwalk shop, and we sell hermit crabs and I was told they are extremely easy to take care of. Therefore I bought two. However, once I got home and researched it, they actually require more effort than I thought. Right now, they are in a 5.5 gallon tank, with two bags of sand and so...
