To dig or not to dig???
I will try the flashlight trick when I get home. But yes, it's in an odd position and looked slumped or curled up. Hope it's the exo. It's still in the tank with the other crabs. I thought it was destressing so I didn't worry. The other two crabs seem totally uninterested in it though. They are not ...

To dig or not to dig???
Thanks. It is so stressful. Who would have thought I'd get attached to these little guys. The crab came up for a little while then went back down. Now it's been down for a few days and is not moving around or making noise anymore. We can see the crab from the bottom of the habitat since it has a gla...

To dig or not to dig???
Thank you! I'll just leave it be then. The substate is kept moist and the the humidity is at 80%. I just heard it moving around just now and it is only making small chirps every now and then.

To dig or not to dig???
We added a 3rd crap about a few weeks ago. It has been underground for about a week now. It went down shortly after we got it but then came back up. Now it's been down there for about a week. Here is the odd part. It's making a squeeking sound and I can her it moving around and clicking it's shell o...

Is my crab molting
Thanks Crabber85. You are so knowledgeable! I really appreciate it. He is pretty small. I'd say his original shell is no bigger than a quarter if that. Heck the new shell isn't much bigger. He's just a little guy which I'm sure is why my daughter picked him out. I'll leave him alone in ISO until he ...

Is my crab molting
He is not dug all the way down but he did move from laying on top of the substrate to being partially burried under the log. I'm changed is food and water (both fresh and salt) and gave him fresh food. Also some nuts. I'll get some other protein tomorrow. What do you suggest? Shrimp? anything else I...

Is my crab molting
He is a very little crab. He is in the new shell. Would he change shells if he hadn't molted? I just checked on him and he has dug himself back down. Perhaps he's just preparing to molt. He's only been underground for 2 days.

Is my crab molting
The substrate is damp. I used eco earth and sand mixed. I have another problem. I got another aquarium and was moving some of the things to the new habitat for the other crab just now. When I lifted the coconut climing background it uncovered the molting crab. He is in his new shell now. Should I fi...

Is my crab molting
Hi I'm new here. We took a trip to the beach and my daughter came home with 2 hermit crabs. They lived in the temporary started cage for about 4 days and when I got home I got a habitat set up for them. The temp & humidity is right at 80 degrees and 80% humidity. Yesterday morning both crabs were ou...
