Upgraded crabitat
Hermione and Crookshanks are absolutely loving their new 29 gallon tank. They have been super active since I moved them. It has been fun to watch. I’m still making improvements but I’m happy with the setup so far. Pics attached! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171005/c7e647fb98f1445d798c5e7ca70f3...

Re: Should I upgrade or say goodbye?
Thanks for the encouragement and info. Good to know that the growth slows down. I guess when Crookshanks completes her mount they will be getting a bigger crabitat!!

Should I upgrade or say goodbye?
Experienced Crabbers, please offer advice. I found my first PP, Hermione, about 2 years ago in the trash at my local park. She was left as garbage in a small plastic terrarium. I kept it and eventually upgraded to a 10 gallon tank as she survived and grew quite quickly. I added a small crab friend (...

Re: New crabitat
I calibrated my hygrometer and found it to be 15 degrees low!!!! No wonder I was having condensation probs! I have a high quality digital hyg/therm that I installed in the tat as an alternative and got great readings. I have added another inch of sub and a deeper dish using the mesh for a ramp. It i...

Re: New crabitat
Thanks for the feedback! I will def calibrate the gauges and it looks like I will need one deeper water dish- I got some rigid plastic mesh so I can build one with a ramp- have not done it yet. She has 4 extra shells and I am always on the lookout for more. Regarding her buddy- the whole lot I saw a...

New crabitat
Hi I am getting my rescue crab, Hermione (golf ball size) set up in a 10 gallon, upgrading from the 5 gallon critter keeper I found her in. She molted in the critter keeper and just emerged a few days ago. The tank is complete, I attached pics. The sub is 5-6 inches of 5:1 sand/eco. I have salt and ...

first molt and advice needed
hi everyone! my rescue crab, Hermione, came up last night from her molt! She is my first hermit crab and I found her in the garbage (literally) back in August. So she has been under the substrate presumably molting and de-stressing for a good 6+ weeks and this morning I noticed the tank is a mess an...

Accidental crab mom
Hi Everyone! I found my one and only crab last month in a trash pile by my house! Being an animal lover, I took it home, cleaned out its pathetic crabitat (yes, someone threw out the whole setup) and started googling about crab care. The next day she had substrate, shells, food, water(s), etc. I was...
