Re: Will my crabs get stuck?
I was planning on using aquarium grade plastic plants, but I was thinking the salt might degrade it or dissolve in the water (which would be bad!). I've never had salt water tanks before, so I have no idea what can and can't go in one. I think I may actually have some plastic aquarium plants laying ...

Re: Will my crabs get stuck?
Thanks! Will plastic plants be okay in a saltwater dish? I'm a bit worried about them degrading because of the salt.

UTH On the side or bottom?
I've been setting up my first crabitat and I have the UTH now, but it says it shouldn't be under the tank if the substrate level is high... It has a side mounting option, should I just do that?

Will my crabs get stuck?
I just bought some clear plastic containers for my saltwater and freshwater pools. They are smaller than I originally wanted, but I plan to do an upgrade once I see the bigger ones available and use these for hermit crab food storage (of course after a good wash). Now they have smooth sides and a cr...

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
Thanks! I understand that they are crustaceans, but since most of the plants deemed safe for hermit crabs are dog, cat and human safe also (to the extent of my knowledge). Aquarium safe stuff is no problem, since I do have quite a few fish tanks. Also good news, my smaller wood pieces came today! I ...

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
I thought they were different varieties...? Well I guess I can just let hang it on my curtain rod from now on. It's really pretty, so I have no problem with it even if it is toxic. Anyway the spider plants are sending out flower stalks and there are a few mature ones almost ready to bloom! So, I tri...

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
I found a varigated spider plant and a pothos, but the pothos does have some gold/yellow streaks and blotches... Not sure how to id it from a golden pothos, any tips? These plants didn't have a thing in them that said they are organic, so they will have to be washed quite a bit and won't go in the t...

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
I wish I live near you, but I'm pretty faraway from you! What kind of plants do you have that are non-toxic?

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
I'm hoping to make a "green house" type thing to set on top of the crabitat and grow stuff upwards more. By air plant I mean Tillandsia, but spider plants are on my plant list (din't name all, but I have live sphagnum moss and spanish moss on it also). Weaving the runners is a great idea! I will pos...

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
How about pothos or lipstick vine (aeschynanthus radicans)? Both do well in a warm, humid environment. My question is, how will you grow plants in a hermit crab medium? No worries about threadjacking! I don't mind at all, I need to learn as much as I can! So, the crabitat setup I'm planning ...

Re: Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?

Are Snap Pea Plants Safe?
Hi, starting my crabitat and I'm wanting a vining plant to put in it (plus also to harvest food from). I did see that peas were safe in the safe foods thread, but I was wondering if the vine is also okay? I do know they will tear it to shreds if they can get it, but I plan on having this at the high...
