Re: Thermometer Suggestions?
Raw, you bought that one about a month ago or so, right? It's still holding up? I have not had one last that long yet.

Re: Crabs being funny
I think a lot of things effect activity levels, but all things being equal it's "personality." I have the same crabs always doing goofball things all the time. Slipknot, Saltie, Marina, these guys account for the majority of the activity and antics everyday. I think also an active, goofball crabs ge...

Re: Super Quiet Crabs...
If the right location has been found and they are finally actually down to the shedding part of a molt-yes, it will get unnervingly quiet. I'm sorry you lost Scallywag. :( If you want us to try and brainstorm on what might have caused it you could fill out the emergency template, but sometimes these...

Re: Second level problem solved!!
Yes, pics please! It sounds like a very creative solution (crabbers are such creative folk-I love it!). I can't get my second levels to stay up so Id'd be interested in seeing the finished product.

Re: funny shell swap
Lovely pics!!! Yes, almost all my crabs are in brown turbos. I do think they "copy" each other, may be so they blend in together better? I don't know, but I think you are onto something there.

If you find an awesome one let me know. I'm on my 4th gauge since October. I don't think they construct these things worth a darn.

Re: King of the Hill
How cute. I think it's like the two year old who falls alseep with their butts up in the air, in the middle of pile of toys with a block in their hands. That's what your King of the Hill is doing.

Re: He came up from his molt HUGE
Congrats on the successful molt! Recently I've had two who came up just HUGE. One in particular is shockingly larger. Splitknot is just a fabulous little molter-he molts right on schedule, normal timeframes for being down-he's like clockwork. He is now a smaller large from a medium, and he is now my...

Re: Hemp Seed & hexane warning
Thanks for sharing your research!!! I always buy single ingredient foods. When I put a mix out-I don't know what nutrients in the mix each crab may get, because they all get to the food dishes at different times and each spoonful has a different mix in it. So if there are nutrients I feel are essent...

Re: Which foods to pick?
I always crush the food up (mostly dehydrated) with a mortar and pestle. I do this not because they can't pick apart anything (almost) with their claws, but because it discourages them carrying off large pieces they bury. Not only do I not rotting buried food in my substrate but then more than one c...
