Re: What to add for the giant tanks?

Well, for proof of my crazy - I just bought a pallet of half bags of play sand. They're delivering next week. It's a local place, it's a perfect grain in my mind, and it's carefully washed first. It's sold as premium sandbox sand, half bags are 25 pounds and easier to handle/mix up for me. I just mi...

What to add for the giant tanks?

Since my father has decided he's only getting grandcritters from me, he spoils them. Little did I know what a medium or so tank was going to be. I was thinking 100 gallons. 225+ gallons and it's deep. Like 34" deep. The small tank is about 175 gallons. Grandpa is building a base and cabinet for both...

Re: Odd behavior?

Well, he was up and playing last night, all night, tat destruction games. He's easy to spot in his beautiful natural shell and he likes knocking things over. And the one picked the murex. The shell I tossed in to just look pretty because Es don't switch into slightly big, round opening homes. And he...

Re: Odd behavior?

Well, I offered some shrimp just now and he came charging over for dinner. So he's at least eating well. I guess I'll take that he's at least getting basic appropriate care now and he's not lugging around that horrible, heavy, toxic nightmare so hopefully even if he can't recover, at least he's comf...

Re: Odd behavior?

Yes on proteins, so far he only accepts shrimp and peanut butter. But I'm on the something is better than nothing point yet, so we'll work on diet later. I know the naked soaking is a very bad sign - but then he's up climbing things and being a crab after he soaks. So I have no clue. I'm wondering i...

Re: Just saying hello!

Mostly, they're pretty good and not too hard to care for. I think it helps that there's enough crabs, they can do crabby things vs get bored. Which means tank remodeling but it's not so neurotic as much as crabs are crabs.

Odd behavior?

I'll be very honest, this little guy has been through a lot and I'm always surprised to see him up and moving the next day. So bad news won't shock me. Background - 5 painted shell Es and Little Guy were at the shelter. Little Guy had a heavy metal toy car glued to his shell. I drag them all home. I...

Just saying hello!

Figured I'd sign up already since the new Es are definitely causing some head scratching. Mostly the typical E behavior of refusing to give up a shell, even if they're living in an ugly painted Turbo that's much too small. Even a similar sized non painted Turbo is ignored. Es. Otherwise, there's a 6...
