Changing Substrate
I was considering changing the substrate of my tank from eco earth to all sand. I just wanted to know if it could possibly hurt the crabs to do that. Besides the fact that I've had this substrate for over a year and the tank is starting to smell. I'm not sure if its the food or if one of the crabs h...

Re: Crabs Never Come Out
Two came out last night and we're exploring around the tank. I'm hoping the others will join in.

Crabs Never Come Out
I don't know what's is going on. In the beginning my crabs were always crawling around the tank and highly active. Then at one point I moved them into my living room and they stopped showing up. So I moved them back into my bedroom and they are still not coming out, not even at night. I can hear the...

Re: Leaving Crabs On Vacation. Need Advice.
Not usually, but sometimes they'll get really thirsty, and suck up all the fresh and saltwater.JoeHermits wrote: ↑Mon Sep 13, 2021 5:43 pmThey’ll be fine for a week. Do your water dishes really evaporate fast enough to necessitate a water dispenser?

Leaving Crabs On Vacation. Need Advice.
I'll be going out of state soon and I have no idea what to do with the crabs. Is it possible to leave them for a week?
I've researched reptile feeders and water dispensers.

Re: Rescued Crab With Hole In Its Shell
Nemo has a slight smell to him buts it not fishy. It smells like sauerkraut. Also, unlike my past two crabs who past away, he does not fall out of the shell.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Re: Rescued Crab With Hole In Its Shell
Update: Named the hole shell crab (Nemo) The other on, Turbo. I still have Nemo under the hut. Turbo has also moved into the hut but is staying by the entrance. He also placed an empty shell identical to his in the entrance of the log. Has anyone encountered crab behavior like this before? Jonathon ...

Re: Rescued Crab With Hole In Its Shell
The crab with the hole in the shell dropped his large pincher. This is definitely Post Purchase Syndrome. I've placed him under a hut with a decorative tree in front of the entrance of the hut to give him darkness. I'm hoping he will molt.

Re: Rescued Crab With Hole In Its Shell
Yikes! That is a pretty rough looking shell. Your best bet is to supply a bunch of shell options like you are doing and give him plenty of quiet time to destress. It's hard to tell from your pictures, it appears as if the shells you are offering may be a bit to large for this Crab. Perhaps offering...

Re: Rescued Crab With Hole In Its Shell
I've had crabs with similar holes keep them longer than I expected, a few even molted before they gave the holey shell up. I agree that the sizes of thr spares shown in your photo are probably a bit too big. Crabs who came wearing this species of land shell all ended up taking Turbo fluctuosus for ...

Rescued Crab With Hole In Its Shell
Today I rescued two crabs from the pet store. One with a hole in its shell and one with a chipped shell. I have them home now in a ISO tank now and they are doing much better but I'm concerned about the one with the hole in its shell. He keeps going to the water dish but Im concerned he will lose an...

aussieJJDude wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 3:06 pmVast majority of brassica (dare to say all) are safe to feed, especially if they are a cultivar commonly found in stores (Brussels sprouts, broccoli, Cauliflower, turn-up, swedes ect)
Thanks!
