Re: Echo

Ok thanks for the response back to me, and I did more research and I think they are little pp's also : ) I would like to make a (somewhat) educated guess and say that I wouldn't be surprised if your new friends' colors brightened after a molt or two :) Mine did when I got them. Except for Chancho.....

Re: HELP! TIME SENSITIVE. Weird Gel Sacs

I thought we did cover sponges and effects on them in the care sheet. Oops. I agree that dry sponges kept out of the substrate and out of the water bowl can be beneficial to crabs, but the statement I made was more of pointed to her use of sponges in her water, not all around effects of spong...

Re: HELP! TIME SENSITIVE. Weird Gel Sacs

Another way to provide calcium is feed exoskeletons of other crustaceans, as well as honey, PB, and eggshells are great sources of calcium. Cuttlebone as well is almost pure calcium.

Re: HELP! TIME SENSITIVE. Weird Gel Sacs

The pink reptile-calci sand can be very harmful for your crabs; when wet it can harden like cement, trapping your crabs, not to mention being extremely overpriced. Another thing is your sponge: either you need to clean it everyday by washing it hot water, then putting it in the microwave when it is ...

Sounds like Shelldon dug up the crab in mid-molt based on the first post--- Correct me if I'm wrong.

No number on the site, the only way I found I could get my money back was calling the credit card company and getting a refund.

Re: My crab will not stay in his shell

The best thing you can do right now is to keep him in ISO as well as offer him foods like cuttlebone, honey, and PB. One thing about your care; Zoo Med saltwater conditioner does not offer all of the minerals found in the wild, instant ocean is what most people use/prefer.

Re: New Crab Owner! New Crabitat

^^ agree on the sponges. Crabs love to eat them dry in the 'tat, but in water they are nothing but trouble. If you need something that they can hold onto while in the water, aquarium gravel siliconed to a ramp is probably the best choice. :D

Re: Hope I didn't mess up too much!

Even if your surface molting crab is larger, he is still wer. IMO, better safe then sorry, and I would section your surface molting crab from your other crab so that there is no way your other crab can get to him. And for the next few weeks you'll want to give plenty of calcium rich and energizing f...

Usually crabs hang out of their shells when they overheat, or to clean/groom themselves.
