Ok thanks for the response back to me, and I did more research and I think they are little pp's also : ) I would like to make a (somewhat) educated guess and say that I wouldn't be surprised if your new friends' colors brightened after a molt or two :) Mine did when I got them. Another way to provide calcium is feed exoskeletons of other crustaceans, as well as honey, PB, and eggshells are great sources of calcium. Cuttlebone as well is almost pure calcium.

The pink reptile-calci sand can be very harmful for your crabs; when wet it can harden like cement, trapping your crabs, not to mention being extremely overpriced. The best thing you can do right now is to keep him in ISO as well as offer him foods like cuttlebone, honey, and PB. One thing about your care; Zoo Med saltwater conditioner does not offer all of the minerals found in the wild, instant ocean is what most people use/prefer.

^^ agree on the sponges. Crabs love to eat them dry in the 'tat, but in water they are nothing but trouble. If you need something that they can hold onto while in the water, aquarium gravel siliconed to a ramp is probably the best choice.

Usually crabs hang out of their shells when they overheat, or to clean/groom themselves.

There is no need to deep clean/ change sub unless there is a bacteria bloom or flood
