Hens and Chicks
Are Sempervivum (Hens and Chicks) plants safe for hermit crabs? I think they are neat plants and would like to see if they will grow in a crabitat haha ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Atlas lovesss boiled eggs!
How long do you leave your boiled eggs in the tank?
The first time I left a boiled egg in the tank, one of my buddies that had been digging around for a couple weeks came up for the new dish hahaha. Must have liked what he smelled

Re: Are these zoo med cork bark rounds safe to use in the cr
Both are okay however, the cork tile blocks any heat coming from an ultratherm heater if placed directly in front of it Sent from my HTC6515LVW using Tapatalk Good to know! I was going to cut the tile and place it above where the UTH is. They are always trying to climb on the top of the heaters eve...

Re: How common are 2"+ shells?
That large though? Normally the stores stick with smaller snails and hermits since they can cause major damage in a tank at a larger size. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk What kind of damage can they do at bigger sizes and what could you do to possibly prevent it? Just curious because I would ...

Re: Are these zoo med cork bark rounds safe to use in the cr
Title explains it all but I'm curious to know if these are okay or not. I know they like to climb on cork bark and stuff but I don't want anything that will be toxic to them somehow https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170602/a3ab61acc04e2f83652f9a588dbd3944.jpg Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk A...

Yes an indo and no shell isn't touching the sand... I didn't take this pic tho. The previous owner took it the day before I got him. I told her it looked like he was walking around with a backpack on. I've never seen a crab do that! Sent from my HTC6515LVW using Tapatalk Sometimes my biggest, Chanc...

Re: Personality Change
I've had my little pals for a year and a half now. The entire time parker had always been a scaredy crab. Every time I would walk by, he would hide in his shell for at least a few minutes before slowly coming out to check if the coast was clear. Very recently, we moved the tank from the spare room t...

Good luck! Hope all goes well!
I recently just moved my 55 to the living room after waiting months and months for everyone to be up. Boy did that take longer than expected..

How big is she? My biggest, Chancho, is a bit bigger than a golf ball but I just recently noticed hair coming from his eye stalks too! I thought it was crazy and funny at the same time because it's like they've got little eyelashes

Re: I made a water thing
It's the oils in the plastic. (It is made from petroleum after all.) Eventually these oils will eat away at the silicon and loosen the bond. It's not usually a super quick process, but the problem is there's no way of knowing when it will fail. What you designed is not a danger to the crabs so I pe...

Re: Salt water mixing
For the saltwater, yes, distilled is good. The salt replaces everything that is missing from the distillation process. Fresh should be regular spring or treated tap water. The half a cup gets you really close to 1.024, which is the average sg of seawater. Since hermits are tidal and estuary dwellin...

Salt water mixing
Is it important to pay attention to the gravity when mixing instant ocean salt water? I've always just put in a half cup per gallon like the directions say but I'm curious if I've been messing it up
