Re: how to do freeze dried food?
I’m unsure about how to freeze dry stuff but you can use a dehydrator to dry foods like fruits and veggies and meats
Re: Long Wait
It’s hard but be PATIENT
As said above, as they get bigger and older they will take longer to molt than the little ones. Even then, time is all a guideline.
Pet sand isn’t fun but something all us crabbers generally have now and then lol

I don’t know what happened-help!!!
Hii [emoji16] it would be super helpful if you could fill out the emergency template so we can help you to figure out what is going on. My first thought is uneaten exo could be mistaken for crab limbs, are you positive they are limbs and your tiny hermie isn’t hiding deep inside the shell? HELP REQU...

Re: Hermie size ?
I’ve never had luck finding shells larger than half inch or so at any stores, and most of my hermits have (surprisingly quickly) grown out of anything I could find local. I’ve ordered from Naples seashells online, they have hermit shells listed by opening shape and size and offer ‘small’ and ‘large’...

Re: Crab is out of shell, he was camping in water.
I’m sorry you are having to deal with this :( our little shelled buddies go through a lot before they get to us and sometimes sustain damage/illness long before we see any signs of distress. You can put some honey in a small dish or flat shell. Cuttlebone found in the bird section at the pet store i...

Opening sizes -oval vs round
Ok awesome good to know, thank you!! Ordering my big guy some 1 1/8th - 1 5/8th round, and Naples offers a pack of oval opening in ‘jumbo’, 1 1/4- 2in I think might work out okay?
My oh my these big beautiful shells can come with a HEFTY price [emoji33]

Opening sizes -oval vs round
This may be a silly question, but, is there a difference in size between round opening shells and oval opening? If I had a 1in round and a 1in oval would it be considered the same? I’ve noticed all the shells I have are round opening and I’d like to give my hermies some more variety and get them a n...

Re: Nuts
I’ve found a large bag of plain mixed nuts in the bird section of my local petstore. Cannot think of a brand name but it was in a very plain package.
Definitely second what other people suggested with health stores and in the baking isle at most grocery stores you can find plain, unsalted nuts.

Re: New crabs molting in shallow sand
How can I add more sand if my substrate might not be deep enough ?? I just put an inch on top ? Every 24 hrs ? It wont hurt him at all just spread it o. top ? I'm worried it will bother him some how An inch or two a day, just don’t pack it down. Lightly spreading it by the handful works well, you j...

Re: Cleaning tanks
New tank if it has any sort of chemical smells I would personally bring it back to the store and ask for a replacement.. otherwise just rinse and wipe down with water or a combo of water and vinegar. For a used tank that has hard stuck on deposits, or for getting stubborn sticky labels off, I have u...

Unfortunately I don’t have a trusted place nearby anymore to find them in
This year we had to use chemicals in our yard to ward off the millions of mosquitoes and gypsy moth caterpillars.

ISO Isopods
Hi all [emoji854] I remember reading about a member here that sells Isopods, cannot for the life of me find the thread or remember who it was LOL. I could use a little clean up crew, the few I put in last year didn’t multiply like I had hoped they would. Thank you in advance!
