Re: Tan (rather than deep red), claw tips missing, and flood
Does it look like he recently molted? (Is he really hairy & bright eyed?) Colour changes - it doesn't really tell you much. I cannot tell. Overnight, I think he burrowed down, so I can't really say much on that. I don't remember him being very hairy, though. I doubt he molted because of the conditi...

Tan (rather than deep red), claw tips missing, and flooding
A little backstory: Two years ago, around this time, I decided that I needed to beef up my enclosure for my hermit crab, Ray. I ended up with a 55 gallon tank and 4 other PP crabs as companions. Everything was fine, excluding a few bumps, for all this time until the end of this previous summer with ...

Re: Should I Continue Crabbing?
@GotButterflies I've actually been using this stuff for quite a while. I haven't noticed anything bad with Ray and he's been through many successful molts while using this stuff. Have you heard any bad stories about Coco husk? @nancat I was actually thinking about draping a towel over one side at ni...

Re: Should I Continue Crabbing?
Happens to all of us at some point. I've been having major humidity issues in my 40 as of late too. I rewrapped my lid and mixed a gallon of water in the sub to get it moist again. My bubblers (in both pools, 1/3 gal each) took care of it from there. I'm also getting a new heater since the temps a ...

Re: Should I Continue Crabbing?
I don't think it would stress your crabs out to put them all in. I have always added my new crabs immediately with no issues you may want to consider having no more than 2 in the 10g Sent from my C5215 using Tapatalk Yes, but that's a normal situation. Before this year, I kept Ray by himself in the...

Re: Should I Continue Crabbing?
@kieagcarm To answer your question, I have them like this because I'm afraid Ray will do something malicious if I put them all in his tank at once due to some kind of crab anxiety. So I'm putting them in one at a time so that he'll have time to adjust to every new crab. Hopefully, they'll all be in ...

Re: Should I Continue Crabbing?
Just make sure that you do not put insulation on top of the zoomed. They are not able to be insulated. You could always try all three sides (except for around the zoomed) to see how well that does at getting your temp up before covering the front. Good luck [emoji4] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk...

Re: Should I Continue Crabbing?
Only you can answer that question. If you are ready to give up; then adopt them out. If they still give you any pleasure or joy; then figure it out and keep them. However in my experience with life, when I start questioning whether or not I want to continue doing something, it's usually because I d...

Should I Continue Crabbing?
Hey everyone, I guess I'll start by introducing my problem: as of this year, I began an overhaul of my old setup and went through a bunch of things. Right now, as a final product, I have 5 PPs - my oldest, Ray and the littlest, Cracker are in the 55 gallon. Three medium sized ones are in a 10 right ...

Re: Fiddlers or other crabs with hermits?
If you feel confident that you can make a safe setup, then I would make a post and ask for tips on it if I were you. I don't have any experience with that, so you should post in Crabitat Conditions if you do that

Re: Fiddlers or other crabs with hermits?
I agree. I don't think it would be a good idea to add living creatures to your crabs' drinking bowls. And for the isopods, make sure you read about how to care for them here: http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=92538 Btw, someone on this website made a thread a while back abou...

Fiddlers or other crabs with hermits?
Are there any land hermit crabs that can safely live with hermit crabs? Further, what animals besides other crabs have you found go well with hermits - isopods, etc
